The PSH 9'6 waa is a great board and once on the tail it surfs like the Wide ripper. But is more stabil and might exactly be what you are looking for. The PSH Bamboo 9'11x31' Wide ripper is also really nice! It is my chopkiller. A guy here loved the rides on the 9'6 Wr but jsut hated the waves he missed. Now he is a happy camper with the 9'6 WAA

Wow. Thanks for all the tips and advice.

So I will bring the 3/2 Psycho and a 2mm short and top for the warmer times. Will be training with some of the Hobie guys and will be in/on the water many hours of the day i think.

Guess in the early morning it can be quite chilly. What is the watertemp at the moment? Here i  Holland it is appr 7 degrees celsius brrr. On the lakes the ice just cleared so anything will be warmer than home  ;D.

@Tim. Thanks for the offer! Really nice. Will be with some of the locals (Colin McPhillips) But maybe we can share a session. Will give you a PM when in Dana Point.

@Gary.

Great video and gives a good feel for the two boards.

I noticed the video is not working anymore? Is there a new link?

Hi Kronix,

I have the exact same boards as you and have the PSH 12' gun/ripper. I love the board and it is definitely faster than the 10'6 WA.

I have used the board also for racing and in waves. It is so versatile. The 10'6 is a little bit more stable because of the extra width.

I use the board for sporty flatwater paddle stretches and waves. You will love this board. I'am 90 kgs which makes the board float a little low since it has not very much volume for its length. If you are a bit lighter the board will handle even better for flatwater/long distance.

Good luck.

Hat plus Maui Jims. Spendy, but worth it. Eyes are very useful, and hard to fix. I have a floating lanyard on glasses. If you're in Maui and you need a free pair just snorkel a while in the lagoon at Kanaha. Before I got a lanyard that works I was liberally seeding the bottom with them.

I've tried cheaper sunglasses. They water spot, and don't help enough with reflected glare. The Maui Jim lenses are pretty magical.

Maui Jims! My favourite too.

Thanks for the advice folks.  I just got my Methane yesterday. It is a thing of beauty.  The handle is a good design in that you can remove it and shorten the shaft if needed.

I can't wait to try it ...

Hi Matdog,
Congratulations!! You made a good choice and will be a very happy 'camper'

I have the Kialoa Shaka Pu'u and have just paddeld the Methane and i really like the smaller blade. Amazing that you can get so much power and thrust from a smaller blade.

What is typical for the Kialoa is the feel of the oval shaft. After trying that I don't want anything else, it just feels so good and togehter with the handle makes the grip very good for directing the paddle.

If you are looking for a surf paddle you certainly should try the Methane.
