Thanks Burchas.. We had the Naish guys in town yesterday showing off the new foils and windsurf foilboard and I asked the question.. What boards were they on? and I was told that it would have been the new Maliko or proto-versions of it.. I hadn't seen any pictures so I believed them.. Your pics proved them wrong because they sure look like current shapes.. Thanks for the pictures.. 4th outright on a 14' board is still pretty amazing considering the huge number of UL boards in the field.

Amazing indeed, but after doing a Maliko run on this board I'm not surprised at all.
If the 2018 Maliko is anything like the prototype I've seen, we're in for a super fun
video from you in the very near future 8)

Interesting looking fin? !  Is that something unique...or just something out there I have not seen ?

Connor on his SB labelled SIC still confirms that design is proper for M2M.  But Tardrew is moving up fast as his designs impress Jimmy and Annabel.  Travis did awesome as well on his dug-out NSP.  Nonetheless the 2017 stock Maliko design really does make a lot of sense for DW.  Low volume so has low windage for control and has a nice planing bottom for fast glides down a wave.  For flat water this board compromises some speed as noted.

The fin with the void is the JR special for DW.

When is the official release date for the 2018 Maliko? All this misinformation is doing my nut in.

It must be soon, surely? Or is the market now so small that the order books are just full of sponsored riders and others paying reduced costs, who put their orders in even without seeing the new board?

Certainly, the M2M was good for both low volume concept designs (in a 14) and also the dugout designs (UL). With Connor winning on a more conventional design as well,  it's really interesting to see how such different designs can all work.

Connor was riding the new SIC Bayonet low rocker/high volume board. But I'm pretty sure
he would win this race on just about anything. Maybe he should get a custom 17' Maliko like
board with steering for the next downwind race.

That rocker looks almost like if the nose of the board was bent at two third of the length.

Well, that's basically the rocker of the Naish Maliko, isn't it? Pretty flat from tail to about 75% (or whatever) the length of the board and then a sharp nose upturn. Gives the benefit of low rocker for flat sections and take-off, with the benefit of nose rocker once you are on the bump. The original Naish 17 was similar(ish) in that respect - rather than having a continuous rocker.

Never realised it was that pronounced. Performance aside, aesthetically I am still a sucker for a continuous rocker.

Basically yes, only higher both on nose and tail.

That's not showing much. Nose maybe just slightly sleeker. Can't judge rocker.

I'm guessing just slight changes. But too early to tell.

Burkas, what is that board?

Yes, it looks bent.
