It absolutely smoked today.  Everyone had great runs.  I went back to my SUP from a few months of surfski on the perfect day.  I woulda been scared on the ski today.

Anyway Jeremy Riggs shows the intensity involved in going 'race pace' out in downwind conditions.  It's a deck mount but what he does with his footwork is so awesome it's very enjoyable.  This folks, is how it's done.

Yep, he is amazing. So much to learn.
Addicted to foiling at the moment.

Awe struck.

Calmly adjusting his straps and grabbing a drink without losing any speed just trimming the rudder. His use of the energy in the water is like a sorcerer pulling magic from the air.

My first impression is that JR could go the Olympics, not on canoe, not on surf but on the balance beam....

I'll swear I saw the man going hundreds of yards on imaginary bumps that only he could see...
so much to learn indeed.

Thanks for sharing that Bill. I certainly would not have called it "race pace" as JR looks totally relaxed and makes it look effortless. Although the speed reading makes me think he's not human.

Love watching the Glidemaster at work. Or, is it 'at play'?

Yesterday, when JR was shooting this video, I was doing the run at the same time on my SUP. I had a smoking fast run, my best SUP run this year for sure. I started right behind Jeremy. He paddled away from me like I was going backwards! It is truly amazing to watch him do what he does.

He told me it was race pace.  But that doesn't mean paddling all the time, just staying on glide.  You'll see him throw down some huge bursts in this vid when he needs them... and then he reaps the reward miles for doing so.  His goal in this video was to count the strokes for a mile at race pace.  I tried to count but his cadence varied so much and I was so blown away, I lost concentration.  He's going to count them and get back to us.

Pretty instructive and interesting to watch how JR uses the rudder to follow everything.

He said 180 on the right and 0 on the left. I'm on the Zone because there is no wind in Hood river!  Killing me. Going for a foil demo with Kalama in a hour though. That should be fun.

Killer balance and technique using the wave perfectly.  Major steering inputs at times to stay right in the power zone.  Nice vid for sure.  Always learn a ton watching JR.

Some beautiful big swells in this video. Must have been lots of fun to downwind. BTW, nice footwork on his rudder.

Gorgeous video. The last thing I do before my next run will to be watch this video.

His love of the rudder is highlighted by the fact that he needed no strokes on the left.  I've noticed that recently as well, but try to paddle 25% on the left so I don't develop asymmetric musculature.

It is also interesting that he gets in a stroke every 2.2 seconds.  I would have suspected a lower frequency.
