I recently purchased (under ke nalu's forever policy) a new ho'oloa blade (>AUS200 incl shipping!) to replace a maliko blade that the airline managed to destroy (they must have dropped a crate on it).
anyway, all good, the local dealer was very helpful & posted off the blade which arrived in short order & in good condition...
but the ferrule (male part) diameter of the new ho'oloa is noticeably bigger than the old maliko & will not fit into the shaft.
Has anyone else experienced this?
where to from here?

Definitely some issues lately as I tried to swap out a Wiki blade to my ho'oloa and I also found it extremely tight, managed to make it fit but it was weird as I never had any issues with swapping blades and shafts before.

Is there any special heat technique I'm missing?? I use a hair dryer and cook the ends ?? I also use regular glue from the hardware store ??

Shouldn't be more than about a ten percent variation, but Lane is the guy to address this. It would help if you could measure the ferrule. Calipers would be the best way, but you can wind a piece of paper around the ferrule, mark where they overlap and then device by pi.

I also use regular glue from the hardware store ??

There usually two types of glue gun sticks available at Ace Hardware....the common all purpose "clear" sticks and a higher strength "Amber" colored glue sticks. I go with the amber higher strength one myself.

Neither the blade ferrule or shaft I.D. have changed and everything should be interchangeable without problems. Not sure what could have happened but slight overheating might cause your blade ferrule to swell. The next time you have it apart check the seam to make sure it hasn't split; but if you were able to still fit your blade it's probably ok...shouldn't be any issues though.

This may sound dumb but...

Make sure you have the  right end the shafts are tapered

Yes I've had several customer (from the ZONE) tell be the ferrule on the blade end was to big for the shaft... Inserting in the proper end solved the problem

just saying
