I am getting excited to see everyone and the ahhhhhh.......carnage. Gonna be fun, fun. I am bringing the PBR pounders for those who prefer the low hop option.

So for clothes and water wear I guess I will bring everything :)

Chaser, Stoney, let's definitely consider the surf contest during the post ideal time with tide/wind, etc. I can't wait for some tasty waves. I hear it barrels down there!

It's tough to change times from what was scheduled and published...very easy to piss folks off.  If we move the surf contest up we could have folks showing up at noon that drove 100 miles to get there only to find the contest has already gone off.....not good.  I know what you're saying but we'll have to leave it up to Jody, Christa, and Chaser to make the call. It looks like conditions may be good all day now so hopefully it won't be a big issue.
This is a good problem to have compared to what the forecast was early in the week.

No worries. I hear ya. I just hope we don't get blown away or totally rained out. Or eaten by a great white :D

This forecast bouncing all over the place is driving me nuts....changing by the minute.

Currently

Chest to shoulder high SSE short period wind swell for the morning with occasional head high sets. This builds in the afternoon with sets up to 1-2' overhead high.
Conditions

Semi glassy/semi bumpy in the morning with ESE winds 5-10mph. Fairly clean conditions for the afternoon with the winds shifting to the NW.

Going to be very interesting paddle out and in. Surf contest could be rocking....awesome.

Wow! I was considering Newport for surf on Saturday but the outer Cape is shaping up to be large with offshore winds. I may have to reconsider. I think I'd prefer observing Suplathon in the comfort of my beach chair and taking some waves later.

I will be chaperoning the swell from RI at dawn and guiding it towards the outer Cape for the contest. If I have my druthers, I will have a double decker, RI-Outer Cape Surf Sandwich.

Stoked to SUP the contest on my new Exocet 8'11 x 32" Fish . Shout out to Phil at Nauset Surf!

Might have to show that windsurfing is alive and well pre-SUPathon!!!!
Then it is surf contest for me in the afternoon.

The forecast is crazy!  I am not sure we will have any idea what the conditions will be until we pull into the parking lot and peer over the dune.

The one constant is that the CCBC crew will be down there bright and surly getting ready for what the day brings us.  People will need to be flexible with regards to the schedule.  Our main concern will be safety (particularly for the race).  If it is blowing, big and bad in the AM we will make the call on what to do about the race.  The surf comp will happen, it is just a matter of when in the afternoon.

We should have 3-4 tents that we can line up into a tent city for everyone to chill under.  If you are coming down and have another pop up tent, bring it along so we can expand our city on the beach.

If it clears up a bit in the afternoon, it could be off the charts.  Looking forward to it!!!

Board Stiff

If conditions at Whitecrest Beach are looking too hairy for the race tomorrow, might there be a backup location on the Bay side that would be more protected from the wind and waves? I haven't been there before, but from google maps, Mayo Beach looks particularly sheltered and is only a couple miles away.

Mayo is a good idea but might be tough to pull off.  We have to go in front of the Board of Selectmen in order to get the ok to have this event and I am not sure they would be happy if we up and moved it last minute.  I posed the question to Jody, who is a CCBC Board member and head lifeguard down in Wellfleet, but my gut tells me we will stay at Whitecrest.

BTW. The town was supposed to cut a new path down the dune to the beach but apparently it hasn't happened.  There is a goat trail down to the beach which is doable but I wanted to give everyone the heads up access will be a little sketchy.

And I know it's frowned upon to surf down the dune, but that would be pretty cool sans fins!
