Wax vs. Pad

The glue on my pad finally gave away during the last surf after multiple re-glues. I'm thinking of just waxing the whole thing and screw the pad.

As anyone done that? If so, how did your feet feel after a long flat water paddle?

Thx

Wax is a mess (particulay in warm cilimates) ...and regularly needs to reapplied.... I would go with a new pad and monster paint up near the nose....CLEAN, LOOKS GOOD AND WORKS GREAT!.....TDE

I like wax. But I also like to be different.

Not sure I would use wax for flatwater, though. Seems more suited to surfing, where frequent water contact slows wax melt.

PilonSUP

Wax melts under my feet.
Makes my board look nappy.
Wax is  3 bucks a bar down here.

I use wax instead of a pad for SUPsurfing and i love it.  Its messy but grips much better in my opinion. Can't say about flatwater as I don't do that.

After decades of wax on my clothes, in my hair, all over my cars...I love deck pads!

RideSurf

hmm. I didn't think about the car, that's waxy roof and I carry the board on my head.

Ok, just buy a new pad and some acetone.

Thx guys.

Well I'm not sure if this makes any sense but here goes -

Pad for the SUP.

Wax for the surfboard.

My feet actually hurt after standing up for a few hours without a pad on.

Cardiff Sweeper

Pad all the way. My feet swell badly during work and have plantar fasciitis. The extra grip and cushion a pad provides is quite nice after a long morning's work.

In fact, my feet are soaking in ice as I type this out.

To each, his own.

NXLVL

the direct feel to the board reminds me of prone surfing. i like the board feel better than pad feel, but the mess is worth it to me!

OUTSIDEWAVE

I say pad for  sup and  maybe wax for surfing  I have had a surfboard with a pd on it and liked it   wax is a pain and  you always have to  re wax or rough it up    plus the pad is easier on my feet  knees etc.

I tried a friends Starboard with a textured deck and I was pretty impressed. I'm getting a board made and just asked them to use a non-skid in the deck and I'll add the pad later if I end up not liking it.

Cardiff Sweeper

I put a bit of wax on the pad, but it didn't help.

Ride, I believe the usage of the term "surf" here is in relation to prone surfing (shortboard or longboard).

SUS is the term we often use for Stand Up Surfing or some people assume SUP means "in the surf" as some of us mostly just do that.

I gotta say, my foamie beginner longboard is hard to beat. No rib pain. I want a nice glass longboard but I'm not sure I wanna pound my sternum. I do love the look of a wax only board but I can't take a long session standing on one.
