clear coat?

I pulled a sticker off of my board and it looks like it took some of the (clear coat?) with it.  What should I do/use to solve this little area that I made?

Bean

Did it actually peel a layer of clear off?  Which board is it?

SUPerTampa

It's the bark dominator 2011.  The orange paint is still present, it just seems that a very thin layer of clear is gone off the top.  I was hoping there was some form of clear paint I could use to replace it.

Got a picture?

You should be able to lightly scuff it with a grey scotch bright pad and spray some rattle can lacquer. If you can find an auto body supply shop that sells upol, they make a really nice clear in a spray can. Duplicolor from AZ or Advanced will work too. Then you can buff it with some 2000 grit and medium cut compound to clean up the overspray if you want it pretty.

Be careful with the lacquer at first. I'm not sure what the bark has for color. Lacquer can be aggressive to some types of paint. Spray light coats.

Why lacquer?

Lots of boards are clear coated with acrylic. Buff with magic eraser.

I thought the ST Barks were painted with a single stage urethane (not base coat plus clear coat).

If you run your finger nail from the damaged area to a clean area and it hangs up on the edge, you have peeled some clear coat.  If you do the same from a clean area to the damaged area and your nail hangs up you just have glue residue.  I know this sounds silly, but it's surprising how similar this can look from a couple feet.

Bean, good point on the glue.

DW, I mentioned lacquer because it is cheap, readily available and already in a spray can. It's pretty easy to work with. Acrylic or water based urethane would work too, but you would need a spray gun. 2k clear would be great, but it is way too toxic.

In Greg Lehor's video series, he recommends rattle can acrylic to finish off custom epoxy boards. I don't do it, but he does!

Definitely loss of clear coat, not glue.

SupStyle

Put a new sticker on it.  ;D
