I've screwed up so badly....didn't get back in the groove post cruise. I'm almost back where I started with all this. Got to buckle down...went out for 5 hours today and had my ass handed to me. 40 lbs less = a better day.

Stone... You should see your brother Bill.  I don't know how much he's lost but he's getting in dyno shape.  Huge difference from when he arrived here this last fall.  He says he's leaving soon but says there'll be plenty more paddling for him this summer at the Gorge.    I'll miss him, he's been great to paddle with this winter.

Sure........rub it in that my geezer bro is in better shape than me.... ;D

I'm really behind the 8 ball now. If he shows up here for the CCBC and I'm not in shape I'll never hear the end of it.

Had a tough Friday and Saturday... "Tough" being a relative term, of course.  Staff member make "cake pops."  Vanilla cake, raspberry icing... mixed together... rolled into a ball... and dipped in dark chocolate... ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?

About the size of a golf ball... (I ate two).  Then I might have hit the dessert assortment that the mother in law brought over Saturday night... (you only live once...)

Been pretty primal otherwise.

It was a good excuse for a mandatory Sunday afternoon paddle... and putting some miles in on the Sannino at night before bed... and doing the wii fit yoga on the balance board... super fun to compete with the wife on the different poses... she usually kicks my butt... all 5'0" and 93 pounds of her...

Good luck this week guy(s) and gal(s).

Goal 180 / revised to 175

Last week 181.6

Today 180.6

Man, this is starting to slow a bit... But given my cake pop and pastry fest of last weekend, gotta be happy with the results.  Super motivated to get to the land of the seventies...

Good luck dudes... And for those of you who haven't checked in for awhile... Take a week, go primal, and check in next Friday.  U will be glad u did!

Well Strand you got to 180 before me. Congrads and good work. You not only did it for yourself but have inspired a whole bunch of us to do the same which is way cool.  I'm still stuck at 182 and bouncing up to 184.  But I feel great and not really motivated to push hard to change it right now.  Going to ride this plateau for awhile a get used to it before I make my surge into the 70's.  Paddling very much and immensely hungry when I get home.  Moderating amounts, eat, wait and see.  If still hungry then a tad more.   Energy level is holding pretty good for the whole 10 mile stretch we do and am able to maintain focus most of the time.  And when I finish I feel fine right away, not tapped out like I used to feel.  So more than weight loss I feel strength and endurance gain since I started.

Don't feel too bad Bob, since I toasted my knee I've backslid a bit. Just push the reset button and have at it. The idea of doing a cruise though gives me the willies. I see the people wandering off the cruise boats here in Maui--not pretty.

I'm 241 this morning. Headed downstairs to work out.

I'm still editing the Waterman Workout. It's going a lot faster since I bought the latest, greatest Macbook pro. Diane needed a new computer so I talked her into taking mine and getting a new one. Amazing machine, though anyone NOT doing video editing would probably see no real difference. A section of the video that took 3 hours to export to a HD format after editing now it takes 4 minutes. I keep checking to see that it actually worked.

Bill and Bill,

Like you guys, totally stoked about my energy levels now!  During the magic North San Diego session last week, I was going as hard as I could for three hours... didn't even want to eat breakfast afterwards, but the wife frowns upon me reading my IPAD when at breakfast out together... we are supposed to "talk" or something.  (Good thing I totally dig her, and like Pono's chick, she is super major smart and interesting... even after 23 years...)

As to being cool with where you are... I totally get that.  I am very happy with hovering at 180... For the sake of goals and numbers and being trapped in a Western mindset ( ;)) I would much rather be hovering at 179.9, however.

As you say Headmount... it is so much more than just the weight... it is about feeling fit... feeling light on your feet (or your board) ... Get this, on Sunday afternoon I went for a cruise on my 8'3".  Paddled out at the house... paddled up to Three Arch Bay... paddled down and around the DP Headland... worked on my stroke and my balance while fully extended... picked off little waves, glided with the dolphins... enjoyed the sun on my bare back... don't think that I would have been able to do that at 200 (at least not on my 8'3")...

Unfortunately for me... the mirror doesn't lie... and there is another 3-4 pounds wrapped around my intestines... I think that is just gonna come off over time... and as I paddle more... and continue to eat right...

I hope that other folks have gotten value out of this thread as you suggest... I know that everyone else sure has helped me, especially when Pono told me that my diet would be great for adding weight and losing muscle... that suggestion and a few others (Marcelo, SEA, Paddlefit) caused me to totally re-examine everything that I thought that I knew about nutrition... Thanks dudes!

Keep on keeping off!

Weekly weigh in time...

Start 200.2

Goal 175

Last week 180.6

Today 179.2

It seems that it is a half of a pound to a pound and a half per week (still).

I must admit that I am relying pretty heavily on the Primal Shake (a Sisson product) for lunches at work... didn't do any heavy duty fasting, just a couple of 18 hour deals... (early light dinner and don't eat again until lunch the next day).

Cheated on Friday with two cake pops... had a nice dinner out on Saturday with dessert... pretty primal the rest of the week (except for that extra cake pop that I took home and at on Wednesday... for breakfast...  ???)

Was a tough week for working out.  Just went on some walks with the wife and dog... a little bit of paddle surfing... and doing push ups and dips while playing fetch with the dog in the morning (to wear him out so he is not a pest at the office).

Gonna get some swell this weekend I think... so I am pretty stoked to SUP until my legs want to drop... then jump on my 6'5" twinnie that probably will float me like a battle ship!  Funny, now that I have been SUPing on quads for a year or two now, my shortboard "drawn in" twin suits my style best these days as far as short board surfing goes...

Good luck this week dudes... anyone, anyone, anyone... Bueller...

Nice work everyone! Early April and people are still focused on resolutions.  That's pretty good.  I jumped on here 01/07, but haven't updated since.  I was 232 with a goal of 215.  I hit the 215 mark this week, but unfortunately I'm still fat.  I must have a really positive self image when setting these goals.

Revised goal is 205.  Here's to more work!

longboarder1973

congrats everyone!
Hey Tim, slow and steady downward!  Nice!

I have a question for everyone...how reliable/accurate do you think digital scales are???
I have been using mine since January and it has seemed to work OK...sometimes I get on it and get off and then get back on and both readings will be off by .5 or so ??? The wife and I just dusted off the old Wii and are incorporating Wii Fit into our routines.
Funny thing is...my scale and Wii are off by about 3 lbs... ???
So, just curious as to which may be more accurate?

anyway...here is my stats...
Start..........270
Last week...247
Today.......246....

all of this is on the old scale....not the Wii ;).

Until next week gentlemen!!!

Rick

P.S.  I hope to get to 243 next week...that would mean that I have lost 10% since this started!!!! Woohoo!
