Max, I am totally with you, I sold all of my longboards its only my shortboards and sup's now.

I've been using an 11ft JL Cruise Control for the past 3 years, switching to a 10'4" Hanalei next month. Our surf is pretty weak and small, and I'm 6ft 190lbs. Not sure I want to go a whole lot smaller than that for now.

Just under 2 years doing the SUP thing full time. Was always a shortboarder who did some longboarding for fun.

Started off borrowing a Laird 12'1" for 3 months. Bought a PSH 10'6" WAA and love it. I have two of those boards, one at home one in Mex.
Now I've upgraded to a 9'10" Tim Stamps Viking Bump. A much faster a more responsive board. Definitely still learning how to ride these things.

Been surfing since I was 12, now 52. Six feet and about 230 lbs.
The Stamps board is 30" wide and 4.5 thick. Still figuring out the best fin set-up for bigger waves.

Pick on me as you will but I love my paddillac  11 by 36. Stable and plenty of float!

1st board:  11' ULI - wanted it for travel to Hawaii; took it in a race, placed dead last...whoops.
2nd board:  12'1" Laird softop....kids and dog transport board
3rd board: 14' BARK expedition-race training board
4th board: probably a BARK competitor or a Mitcho....any recommendations for a race board out there????

Did I mention I am totally addicted?  Pretty strictly flatwater here, but entered the BoP in Hawaii this year....just need to learn to surf!

Could you please tell some more about this board?

What fins do u use?
Does it also work in slow or small waves?

Jimmy Lewis 9'4 x 28" Mano if its at all choppy and anything from 1' to huge -awesome board. Its got some serious nose rocker , and I'm yet to go over the handlebars even on very late take-offs, it seems to have the same glide as my JL 10' surf series board , so I can stay out back & don't have to jostle with the surfers to pick up waves. For 28" feels very stable.
Naish Nalu 9' x 26 1/4". This board rides like a dream in up to 3' and glassy conditions for me. Glassy, because if its choppy the width makes it hard work for me ( 80Kg), My daughter rides it very happily in all conditions though - she's 65Kg. When your'e on the wave though its super-carvy due to its thin rails and pintail , so you get catapultated back up for your top turn if you get decent speed on the drop. Again , it has very good glide - no sensation of pushing water out of the way that you get from wider boards.
My advice is stay at 28" or under if you really want to carve / grip / engage with the wave. If you want to have a relaxed and mellow experience go wider.
