I am trying to learn Tahitian and was thinking of practicing indoors.maybe standing on a bosu or something in front of a mirror?  Any advice?
(of course my paddle is too long. Maybe I could make something from PVC or get a broken paddle or something?  People must have tried this. What have you come up with? Thanks.

Get a go pro or have someone video you while paddling. I don't think you can really accurately mimic your stroke off the water. The go pro will really help show you what you're doing right and maybe more importantly...wrong. More expensive than a piece of PVC and a mirror but it works...more fun too and you can get some great pictures while you're at it.

There can't be too many other sports out there that lead you to say, "I want to practice stroking in front of a mirror".   ;)

So what actually happens when you end up in the water and you are not in front of the mirror no longer how will you know you are still doing the Tahitian stroke? maybe mount the mirror on the board. ; ::)

"I want to practice stroking in front of a mirror" I recommend pulling up the Maui pump track thread for inspiration.  ;)

And btw, supninja. It is called muscle memory...

So anyway, I've been trying this on a stool with a girlfriend's paddle (shorter). I think it works great and is improving my form, shoulder stacking, etc. Using a reflection, at night, in a large window...

Man, I did a mirror session to figure out a problem I had with a "strong side/weak side" thing. While I wouldn't do it sustained, it helped me.

The video thing is really the best, if you can get a buddy to help.
