Nice Piros. Makes me want to buy a ski.

Is that South Straddie by any chance?  Sailed over from a long stay in New Caledonia then spent 6 mos. anchored on the lee side of S. Stradbroke years back- have some really fond memories of Oz and that whole area.

Trying out a 1 metre super gull. Didnt have access to my mast/fuse due to a nation wide lockdown so ive been trialing it on my mates axis standard axis fuse.

Definitely feels too long for the gull and the curved tips on the tail wing also dont feel right, there may be some inteference due to turbulent water coming off the 'elbows' of the front wing which are about the same height, although a little further outboard, as the stab tips.

Besides that this has got to be my favourite wing so far, custom or production. Ive done 10nm of downwinders, 3 sessions ~waist high surf and 2 in shoulder- head high, for a fairly large wing its just awesome, the faster it goes the better it feels.

Now, if only i had a board that wasnt composed of 90% saltwater, 7% foam and glass, and 3% wax and cracks

Wow that Gull wing is crazy but looks good , how does it turn.

All-wet , yes that's right  South Stradbroke , we call it the Straddie Bombie or TOS " The other side" real wave magnet.

I just love that wing!  I feel that there is something beneficial in having some double barreled dihedral.  My large wing with gull wing influence seems to want to hang in forever.  Maybe it sets up some high pressure bubbles under each side.

Yeah im not sure what it is, its hard to tell right now with a long fuse and wrong tail wing. shes certainly not breaking any records for speed or manoeuverability however it does feel super nice, quite stiff until you lean it over and pull into a turn where itll just bite and go. It threw me off the first time i tried it in the surf as i wasnt ready for just how hard itll turn when you let it.

This video is a snippet from an 11 minute film. i was doing a roughly 4nm run, and in the 11 minutes i covered about 90% of the distance. That with a fkd water logged board and a wing thats still covered in blemishes and 40grit sandpaper scratches!

It looks like its pitch unstable but its the opposite. so rigid in pitch it requires such heavy foot work and large trim inputs, add in a 30kt wind chop on top of a swell and you can see why i need all of that 750mm mast!

I sometimes like to take a peek back in time, just to see how things evolve in relatively short timeframes.

Can you imagine if someone showed up at the beach with the rig Robert is riding...saying they're "gonna start foiling on it"?

Now we'll get two SUP foilers out of the blank Robert used for that board. ;D

Me: 6'1"/185...(2) 5'1" Kings Foil/Wing Boards...7'10 Kings DW Board...9'6" Bob Pearson "Laird Noserider"...14' Lahui Kai "Manta"...8'0" WaveStorm if/when the proning urges still hit.

GoPro finally released their editing software for the GoPro MAX.

Here is a digital re-master of a 500 yard ride at Mavericks.  The season is back upon us.  Maybe someone will join me this fall.

L41 7' 4" SUP with GoFoil GL140.  Buoys were 11 feet @ 14 seconds.  This was a 15 to 18 foot take off.  Last ride of the day first on a foil.

After going through a bad second wave or Covid19 here in Melbourne (Oz) and a long strict lockdown we are finally allowed out for just one hour to play on the water as long as we don't have to travel to get there..

Lucky for me I live just across the road from this nice little beach and after a long winter of being locked up it was so nice to get out in some warm Spring sunshine and enough wind to foil.
