Here is a vid that shows the 10'6 Surf in XXX and ECO

Some chatter about longboard SUPs these days, so I made up this vid.

The XXX shots have been posted before in the 1st vid in this thread, but I thought it might be interesting to see both constructions side by side.
The waves in wetsuit are the XXX
Trunks are on the easy to spot white ECO build.
I prefer the ECO build for some reason... it could be the flex is slightly different or simply my imagination  :)

On a jamming wave, the 10'6 Surf is fantastic frontside.... someday I might catch it on film :o

If the surf ratings on the website comparing surf and style longboards:

Style, much better in waves, more glide, same tracking, less stability, thinner, likely thinner rails

Surf, medium in waves, much less glide, same tracking, more stability, much thicker, and likely thicker rails

So, why would one select the Surf?  E.g., wouldn't a wide Style be better?

Is the stability difference such a big deal to the experienced sup'ers?

Are the ratings sound?

Why is the Surf relegated to another web page?

BillieK..... Great questions..... I have an issue with Sunova grouping the 10'6 Surf with the other "Surf" models.... in fact, I think they just changed it. They may made the 10'6 and added a 10' and broken them off into a different "longboard" group, which is where I believe they belong.

The 9'5, 10'3 and 10'11 in the "Surf" line are wider, more beginner/intermediate...

The 10' and 10'6 are much narrower....more high performance longboards.
They are not "stability" boards like the others in the "Surf" line, but have plenty of glide.
I love the 10'6 Surf.... it rips... very high performance for such a long board. Noseriding is just... ok, but turns great!

After surfing the 10' Style and the 10'6 Surf back to back.... IMO, the 10'6 Surf is a snappier, more aggressive longboard than the 10' Style, which is more old school noserider. The Style is much better on the nose than the 10'6 Surf, but more deliberate in the turning department, you definitely need more "finesse"

I am learning the 10' Style now.... it is absolutely opening my eyes in the noseriding department....
I just go up and camp there... I stay on till I crash.... I am trying to find how the nose works.... because it almost feels like cheating  :)
The tail on the Style is super narrow, with lots of tail rocker, so I threw in a wide base 10' fiberglass fin, and the tail NEVER spins out... it has a super controllable sideslip in the tail, that helps keep the nose engaged. Check my videos as I add them to the 10' Style thread... I'll have a new one done tomorrow,

This one is continuing to be a go to favorite. Here on an overhead and tricky day, bumpy and closing out but still fun with the right board.

Also the last run as a single fin for a while. I've put in some PSH quads and the first couple of surfs have been perfect.
