Hey Sam,
Love these shapes.... really innovative.....I'd like to attempt this shape and build one in hollow wood form. I am going to have a fiddle with AKU shaper to get the plan shape but would like to ask where the widepoint is and what the nose and tail rocker are set at. I am happy to send you the plans after I have farted around with it so you can check em out.... I would really like your input!!

Cheers

WOW......you really want to make a "Wood model" Sam Pa'e 7'-10"  SUP.......Cool.

I think the nose rocker was set at 5'' and the tail was set at 3". Keep in mind that this board was made from a 8"x 48"x 6" 1lb. EPS foam block. So I had only 6" to play with.

The widest point for this board is set a little forward from center (about 8"). It's 28" at that point and stay's flat toward the back for about a foot then starts it's transition to the tail.

If you would like, I can send you a paper template of the rocker & the outline......I hope this helps.....Good luck.

Aloha.........Sam

Aloha Sam,

Yeah templates would be great ....as I say this size look really cool and I think would probably suit either my missus (she is a light weight) or my boy (he's really light)...at any rate I'd love to try it.... a wood model would really look good I reckon. You want to email me the plans or post?....However, I will say that I live in the UK and posting them to me might be a real pain!! (sending anything here usually is). If you don't have them in a digital format I am happy to soldier on with AKU shaper and your measurements but thank you for the generous offer. Watch this space in a few months time for the completed article!!

Cheers and mahalo

Sam,

I got to tell you that your video is one of the best video clips I have seen.  It took us through the whole process.  The music made it very entertaining.  Looks like the board works great.

Congrats

My plan was to trace it on paper, cut it up, & send it to you. I thought you'll be here in the states........Never mind

Sorry......I don't have these templates on digital or the "AKU Shaper" thingy. I built this board off the top of my head and delta with the resources I had.

The blank was made from a "block" I pulled from a scrap pile of rubbish, "rocker/outline" templates I made out of scrap ply wood, and the "stringer" was cut from vinyl siding for a housing project.

But go ahead and send me your plan's, I would love to help.... :)

Thank You........I was thinking that everyone seen this board it's progress, but "not" in action. I always liked this old school stuff........I thought it would be an appropriate mix for the vid.

I built this board to kill time/boredom while working on Maui in 07-08. I was away from my family month's at a time and it got really lonely.....So I needed to keep my mine occupied.

But with every built there's always a reward despite what the reason or the outcome..........Some else found joy in this project... :)

Aloha.....Sam

Not to butt in, but the easiest way may be to take some good photos and post them.  As long as they are shot well, they can easily be used in Aku shaper to copy the original profile and rocker.

Just make sure everything is squared up and that you are shooting at a "normal" (not wide angle or telephoto) zoom position.

Nice one Sam...I'll tinker with the board i am working on and attach it to a future post when I have figured it out. Probaly going to go around 8 foot and 31 wide for the missus...she isn't the steadiest on her feet but she wants to give it all a go.

The boy well he adapts well to anything.... so no worries there!

Aloha Sam,

Not sure what's happening.......tried to PM two designs to you but they do not seem to have been sent. I can't seem to attach them although they are relatively small. I'd appreciate it if you PM your e-mail and I'll send them over so you can check them out.

Cheers
