If the early boat can take no more kayaks:  Once again, no big deal.  Get you body on the first boat and have your kayak come over on the next available boat.  You will have to pay an extra fee for an "unescorted kayak"  I think someone had to do this last year and the extra fee was $25.  Not sure about that, so double check my accuracy.

I just checked and this is the exact weekend I've committed to a camping trip to El Capitan beach. :( I'm pretty bummed, cuz this Santa Cruz trip looks like a lot of fun.  It's funny, I had just talked the lady into this trip when she told me to check the calendar for conflicts.  I got my priorities backward.  I'm sure you guys will have fun, I'll keep my eye out for the next trip.

I called and booked the boat.  I will be bringing my own kayak.

Excellent, OC!  I'm pretty sure a few of my kayak friends will be going, so you will most likely not be the only kayaker.  We may have quite a group this time.

They just sent me an email that the boat departure for our group is going to be 9AM and not 8AM.  Anybody else got that?

Island Packers actually called me on the phone to tell me.  9:00 is fine, plenty of time to do what we need to do.

It's sort of funny, the lady said that for some reason this particular boat is filling up early, already has 4 bookings, so we had better get our group booked quickly.  I told her that all four of those were us.  We do all need to go ahead and buy the boat ticket ASAP.  Can always get a refund later, if needed.

We currently have 4 SUPers and 4 kayakers signed up for the trip.  We still have room for 4 more people.  See the original post to this thread for info and costs.

Would a yak and a board be too much?  Are there any waves out there?

Zooport

Yes there are waves, but there are two problems with surfing there.  1. It's about a 4 mile paddle to get to Yellow Banks where there is a SW facing beach break.  2.  Island Packers will not transport a regular SUP or surfboard.  Only kayaks and the kayak/SUP hybrids like the Ocean Kayak Nalu.  If only we had a private boat, I would be all over that.

Yellow Banks is supposedly a good summer break and I know of at least one great winter break on the island.  Long, rolling peak; perfect for SUP.  Someday, I want to buy a boat and gain access to them.  They are both almost always deserted, even when there is great surf.

I'm booked and OK'd for my inflatable.  Looking forward to it.  I have to break out my camping gear and go over it.

Very wise to check everything carefully.  There is nothing on the island to buy.  No services or concessions of any kind. So what you bring is all you have.  There are two faucets that provide drinkable water in the campground.  Doesn't taste very good, but it is safe to drink.  I bring bottled water, freeze it, and use it for ice in my cooler.  Then drink it as it thaws.

Did I send you a packing list and the other info?

Yes, I got a list.  Will probably use a board mule that I  bought for my bike but never used to carry the two packs (board and backpack/camping stuff).  What are the restroom facilities, if any.  I'll bring trash bags to haul out my trash.  I'll probably stay in a motel the night before and possibly the day coming back for a shower and come back north the day after.
