Already thinking of possible downwinder routes on the SF bay for this summer.
Not much interested in the SF or north bay options.
Wondering if anyone has any experience on some of these options. . . .

Im in Sac so first thought is Delta winds on an ebb.
Sherman Island (windsurf and kiting) has a quartering wind to a rocky levee.
Anyone done Antioch to Sherman? Or other spots when the delta wind is cranking?

Other thought is the peninsula on a NW wind.?
I know the windsurf spots. Maybe something in the 3rd Ave. channel.?
Not sure of the put in and take out.
Thanks.

Actually Sherman Island to Delta Windsurf is short but sweet if the wind cooperates. I've done it many a time and it's usually on a flood as the ebb is far better for windsurfing. It's not so good if the wind has much west which can send you into the levy in short order. But often you can avoid that by just starting the run from the other side of the river. Meaning you launch at the access gate and hump you way across the river. Haven't tried the other routes such as leaving from Antioch as the logistics for the drop off/pickup is a headache as well as the toll for the bridge. But it could be interesting if not for all the driving. Also not sure if I'd want to do that distance on the ebb as you always run the risk of the wind dying turning it into a torture session.
