Edgecore paddles are feather light and half the price of all the others at only $150. They make two designs - a conventional large head paddle for flat water and a smaller head model for surfing. Edecore also makes nice clone Future fins too. Remember Morey and Pope Surfboards?  Karl Popes son owns and runs Edgecore.

Same Popes that did the trisect? If half of what I've heard is true I don't think I'll be giving them my business. Six pages of comments that got pretty bizarre.

I have two edgecores to go along with two quickblades. I use the small edgecore for surfing and it is great.  The paddles are super light and durable. I like my small edgecore way more than the Kialoa Methane I was using for surf prior to the edgecore. The methane was a wiggle worm that squirmed whenever I put power to it.  The edgecore is stiff and stable. I also have several sets of edgecore fins and they are 1/3 the price of futures/fcs with all the performance.

I use a quickblade elite 90 and magic 100 with my race boards and love them both. I do like the Idea of the long paddle blade but how hard is it to clear that thing during recovery?

No I don't work for edgecore I just like a good product for a great price.

I've read lots of complaints about the tri-sect boards but this is the son, a different company and an entirely  different product. I've been beating up my Edgecore paddle for several months, and except for scratches, its as good as new.

And since "night paddle" mentioned the wiggling issue...  I bought a more expensive paddle once that wiggled on the first stroke and I went right back in and got my money back. That wiggling thing is totally unacceptable to me and my Edgecore paddle doesn't do that at all.

Actually...I believe the person being complained about was the son but I could be wrong. Maybe this is the grandson? What's his full name if you know?

They have a long history. As was mentioned in the previous thread...Google the names.

I don't think I'll choose to do business with someone that has tipped the karmic scales so far.

I don't remember his first name but as funky as the tri-sects were, his paddles and fins are pretty dang good. BTW: I have no affiliation with them. I'm just happy with the paddle. His ads are all over the San Diego Craigslist if you want to call him.

I'm not questioning the quality of his paddles or fins.

Because you are questioning his integrity? Well if so, I am unable to speak to that. I acknowledge that I might have different things to say if I spent a bunch on one of those things. Perhaps he has learned and grown from his failed Trisect?

Each paddle I have has a best type day. The Wiki KeNalu is now my main go to race paddle with a Kialoa handle. Started with the Maliko last year but it hurt my back. The Shaka Pu I have slightly altered so it doesn't flutter as much is my favorite for longer tours. I like the feel of the Warner Gran Prix M but the shaft is larger and doesn't fit my hand. I paddled the Toro today and I might use it for downwind sense it is a bit bigger. If I were to mix and match I would put the M gran Prix on a Kialoa shaft.

Gorgebob, did you notice a decrease in speed when you changed from the Maliko to the Wiki? The last couple of days it's been windy here and my back is sore (not the lower back. More like the middle back, around the lats). I'm guess from paddling into the wind. I'm wondering if I should replace Maliko with a Wiki.

Everybody deserves a second chance I guess but the stuff with the tri-sect was just part of it. There were real estate/vacation condo rental  ripoffs involved too. Folks got taken. Hopefully he has learned and doesn't screw anyone else. Of course he is also "cloning" future fins.

I am 5'7" 160# and the Maliko with the 100% shaft had too much grab at the beginning of the stroke. The Wiki ups my cadence slightly but no lack of power. Up wind I would go smaller. I paddle around Ross Island and when its windy it would be nice to have 2 paddles. Small for quicker up wind stroke and larger for down wind power and speed. I think that the paddle shaft would be shorter for up wind as well.

Thanks, too much grab makes sense.  I need to find the right balance between pain and speed.
