Browsing the cams at lunch trying to decide if it's worth leaving early (jonesing badly) and I spy what I think are a few zoners (and a Ke Nalu... ;D)out at Coast Guard. I think one may be creek (form looks kinda like him and board color was right)...and under the red board with ke nalu in hand (piece of 8?).

OK..just decided....no waves local so it looks like a drive is necessary. I can work tonight after the sun goes down...I'm outta here.

Haha, nice catch! The red board (Laird 10 6) + Ke Nalu = me. Got there late just at high tide. All the local rippers and hard men were just getting out of the water- that should have clued me in. I guess conditions were nice earlier but had deteriorated a bit. I took a beating trying to find shifty take-offs and got munched a few times. Beautiful day on the water though. Definately feel spring coming.
Bunch of old shit

Creek showed me a nice pic he grabbed of you. I'm sure he'll be posting soon. I met him there at about 3:00 or so and we went out. It was a bit messy at 1st but cleaned up a little and we had some nice sets coming through. Surfed until the sun was setting, just what the doctor ordered.

Yeah... it was a Zoner convention...
I went with my friend Tom, who has been rejected about 4 times from Zone registration...
I ran into Tribalthunder after my first session
addapost and friend showed up with the exact same Laird I was told to check out today on the Zone...
I said... "Hey... what size it that Laird"?... when he told me, I said..."funny, I just asked about that board today on a forum"... he said... who are you?
"supthecreek!... and it went downhill from there ;D

I got home at 3pm... really tired. Phone rings... stoneaxe is on his way down.
Grabbed my suit from the dryer... met him at the beach at 4... surfed till dusk... 7:15
whew... about 6 hours in the water today!

It was a workout all day... vicious rips that were like paddling up the Colorado River... sideshore winds... backwash and a confused local swell... until Stony and I found a slick little break near the inlet...then it got fun :D

Great to run into so many Zoners in one day!

Wish I had brought my camera. While I was paddling back out I stopped to watch as a big set came in. Creek caught the best of the set and just played with that wave all the way in...smooth!
I was doing my usual flailing around...caught a few nice ones and a bunch of smaller ones that were fun to walk around on.
The Allwave was fun but I was missing my 9er in the early going (in for repairs). The South County is so stable I'd have hardly noticed the weird chop the rips were creating but I had to work harder on the Allwave to stay standing (probably a good thing considering) My crappy surfing wasn't the boards fault I was having some muscle memory problems....I've surfed the 9 pretty much exclusively for 2 years. Kept stepping out to the rail...only its 3" narrower on the allwave...slipped right off a couple of times and just had my feet wrong on a lot. Biggest difference was coming off a lip, could'nt get the nose back around quick enough and crashed and burned a lot.
I started getting the board figured out about the time we were getting ready to go....that was when I got some nice rides.... ::)

"It was a workout"... "vicious rips that were like paddling up the Colorado River... backwash and a confused local swell... "

A pick and choose quote sums up my solo session just south on the other side of the inlet.

Having known, I would have added one more zoner to the party.

Another time.

Speaking of another time - -  Tonight home at 5:35 and putting the board in the water at 6:05.  One of those nights that only a SUP could make it work.  Mello but fun just the same.
