I pretty much gave up snowboarding because of the high cost of lift tickets but I can see myself getting back up here next winter with my fat bike and hitting the cross country trails.  ;D

Looks like solid traction.  And if you careen off the trails you crash in soft pow.  Gotta love that.  Thanks DJ that was fun.

Just came across another great fat bike vid.

Interesting perspective on fat bikes, and very appealing as well.

I just think, how would a fat front tire and suspension fork feel? Wouldn't it be vague or mushy handling?

I saw your bike has a rigid fork, so has mine (skinny 2.35"). I removed the front suspension from my bike years ago and the transition took me a couple of rides. Never missed the squishy.

Tempted to widen my tires on the next replacement to 2.5....hmmm...my frame/fork won't accept a fattie  ;D so i rely on reviews to know more, since none are here so far.  Interested in the concept.

Thanks for the vid and pictures, awesome !

Be well

They look cool as heck. Would be fun in the snow on frozen lakes here in the winter. I imagine the rolling resistance makes em slow as heck, but that's ok.

Nothing like a bike with monster tires, Sunday, Sunday, sunday!
Semper Fi!

It's simple, either you get the wave or the wave gets you.

I honestly don't notice the rolling resistance.  You just float over everything.  The weight takes a little while to get up to speed but it is the most fun I've ever had mountain biking.  I don't need to go fast anymore.  I just want to have fun.  The other great part is the reaction from the other people on the trail.  I had a girl laughing out loud at me.

That is COOL bike....don't laugh but....is there a "cruiser" version? Something like a 3 speed that would be good for crusing the beach and dirt trails with out being a full in trail/mountain bike?

I have read of many mountain bikes equipped with Internal Geared Hubs (IGH) that range from 3 to over 8 speeds. A bit expensive on the more advanced models, but the simplicity and less need to adjust derailleurs, plus less machinery exposed to sand and mud makes these worth exploring. Some even go singlespeed ;)
Allow me to refer you to the Mountain Bike Review forum on IGH.

There's also singlespeed and fat bike forum on this site.

The first fat bike that I ever saw was here.. http://fatsandbike.com/ .. and they do a cheap three speed cruiser.. That was my original choice.. (beore getting my Moonlander) They have these cool spider patterned fat beach tires.

Everyone says that they must be soooo slow.. But they're not.. This (vid) was a few weeks ago while in Merimbula.

AWESOMENESS!!!  Gonna call after Christmas and see if I can get one with the cruiser style handlebars....

I'd love to get a fat bike for the beach but am not that much of a rider to justify 1300 bucks and up. I saw the link for the fat sand cruiser II. Anybody know of similar price point options?

I was going to order an Electra bikes Cruiser in black....for around $700.....if I can get Fat Sand Bikes to  put the Boardwalk Cruiser handlebars on the the Fat Sand Cruiser 2 I will be very happy.....I spent thanksgiving riding an Electra Cruiser bike, and had a lot of fun with it. The Fat Sand Bike would get a lot of use by me.
