I'm 6'1" 185 and I love my Starboard 11'2" UB for flatwater paddling and I have been amazed atr how well it surfs in typical east coast waves-it does feel huge when you are caught inside though.
I also have a Naish 11'6" that I find too big and too stable, though very nice for flatwater of course (haven;t surfed it) 230lbs friend found the UB tough as a beginner-much better on the Naish-I think the recipe is litres of volume as well as dimensions being critical - if you are 210 you might be happier on a slightly bigger, floatier board especially if you plan on alot of flatwater paddling

Terry-
Not to get off topic here but how do you like that Walden?  I haven't heard or seen any reviews on it and our local shop has 2 but no demos.

10'6" will  be fine.  on the East Coast, you'll encounter a lot of chop and warble, so I would go with a 30" wide board.

I'm  220# and I have ridden the 10'6" C4.  It surfs well, but unless the waves are glassy (you still on the East Coast?), you're gonna fall a lot.

I have the 11'6" Stewart, which surfs really well.  I wish it were shorter and wider, as It's also only 28" wide.  However, the double wing pin tail and the step rail helps it hold right in the pocket.

On a rib high glassy peeper, I drop down into the pocket, do a top turn in the lip of the wave, drop back down, repeat, repeat again and again.

I also rode the Laird in head high Bertha swell, and I was amazed that I was pumping a really long wall and holding to the wave just fine with all of that rail and what not.  Like all SUPs, it definitely is a section beater.

My next board will be 30" wide for sure.
