Welcome to the dark side!

Advice only.
Take some lessons, when the snow is not hard packed. Be patient and ready to be humbled.  Like surfing, the payback is so worth the effort.

It's simple, either you get the wave or the wave gets you.

I know some really nice guys that belong to the Cape Cod Ski Club
I believe they do both day and overnight trips. By bus... so you get to relax to & fro.( plus "fly" trips for the serious)
He's a link to their website

I think Cape Sailword has some type of ski/snowboard club.

I'd love to switch but not sure my coccyx could take it now. Started to try the switch a year before my head went south and landed on my ass a lot. In our lovely New England mix of ice and hard groomed trails I was more than just sore. When the head went it all was gone. I haven't been on skis since 2003 but I do plan to this year. Going to have to play it very safe though which my wife will like. No more high speed runs I'm afraid.

Sailworld does one and there is another I believe at Sun & Ski in Pembroke right off Rte 3

Stay away from the flats. It hurts more if you fall...

watched a bunch of youtube vids on how to start boarding and basic trix.  then went to Loon last Wed.  had to hike up bunny slope since lift was not running.  did that that a few times then hit the gondola and some blues.  fell a bunch but had a blast!

off to Sunday River for 3 days this week  ;D

FYI, we've been getting the Okemo Value Pass the last couple of years.  It's around 650 pre-season and 750 after Oct.  It's good for Stratton and Sunapee all days except some holiday blackouts.  And you get five free day a Crested Butte if you can make it out there.  You all also get half off lift tix at Jay Peak and Wachusett.

I remember when I started at Wildcat they had a deal where I took four 30 min lessons for 200 and when you finished them they gave you a free seasons pass.  You can get them all done in 2 days then pick up your pass.  I never learned to ski so I can't compare but snowboarding is pretty easy to learn.  You should have it down your first day if the conditions are decent-  meaning not bullet-proof ice everywhere.

It is crazy fun- you'll love it.
You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take.

If you ski and surf you'll pick it up fast. Just rent the gear until you know where you want to go with it.

Anywhere there's snow is good for learning. If it were me I'd go for a small uncrowded area to start; cheaper and less hazards.

Pad up for sure while learning...of nothing else wear a helmet you will bounce your mellon a few times!

I'm at Sunday River for three days now. Went with the mid week New England Pass to Loon, SR, and Sugarloaf. Loon is a quick day trip for me and I have an accommodations connection here at SR.

Took a 90 min group lesson today for $35 which ended up being just me so I lucked out big time. I was linking my heel/toe turns on the blues and even riding some switch THEN caught an edge and SLAMMED my coccyx!  Tried another run but it ruined my mojo and I've been waddling ever since. I'll be back up in the AM.

@mjd. I absolutely LOVE Vermont. I went to college there and lived there for 8 years after.  I was thinking of getting that pass but the cost of overnights got in the way...maybe next year. Id really like to get to Stowe and Jay asap. That was a CRAZY deal at Wildcat!

@jc50. Oh ya I'm rockin a helmet and after today I'm stuffing my burton padded shorts with 20 rolls of  Charmin  :D
