Before committing to starting a local sup meetup.com group, is there interest in it?

My idea would be focused on sup adventure, and flat water nature paddles. Appropriated named "the water less paddled" To go where few paddle.

Hit the hidden gems, keeping it real casual, perhaps being the first to paddle places. Camping and weekend trips but mainly keeping within 2 hours of Detroit.

Have you ever gone to any of the Detroit and Windsor SUP get togethers at Belle Isle? Good group, but they pretty much always paddle at Belle Isle. I'll be teaching SUP (hopefully) this coming summer with another local company so between that and my crazy work schedule that is constantly changing I'm not sure how many meet-ups I would really be able to make, but I would I'm always down for group paddles and know some others who are too!

Really like the concept of "water less paddled" - SUP pioneers!  ;D

Keep us posted!
May you build a ladder to the stars and climb on every rung...

Thanks Mitten. Never went to a meeting and noticed the group. Want to talk with them first and see if they already doing the events I want to facilitate.

It's supposed to be damn near 50 degrees this weekend!  ;D

Who is paddling and where?

I would be so out if I wasn't working  :'(

No paddling here, (in Homer Simpson voice) stupid crappy work!

Working OT thru the winter and saving money for a choice board come spring.

Thanksgiving paddle for sure, have the morning free gives me a few hours.

Still debating on the meetup group. Will find out more come first of the year, working on a major 1+ year project at work. THEN a monkey wrench just entered the machine, our company merged with another which means...I have no idea. In a month or two will know a lot more what's happening with my department and work schedule.

Kind if envisioned breaking down the group paddles to a fixed weekly event.  Then monthly regional adventure paddle, within 2 hours drive time. Additional maybe couple times a year travel out of state, like fly into someplace rent a cabin/condo and rent boards.

Anybody on the Eastside of the State paddling on Thanksgiving? I am heading to the Grosse Pointe area and was contemplating bringing my board.....

Zoo, am planning on Stony Creek Park at 10 am. Thou the place is not really near Grosse Pointe.

- see why I want to start a meetup group, knowing there is a viable audience in the area for this. Per usual, might be a solo paddle tomorrow.

Should just do it, worst can happen the meetup group is a dud and out of $96, or whatever the annual fee is.

Gringo,

I would be up for some MI winter paddling. Post possible meet-ups here? Or if you start the meetup group, let me know!

Let you know what I'm doing. Going to wait till after the holidays.

Thinking during the ice months, have general monthly indoor meetings till the spring thaw. Someplace to down a few, talk about paddling, places and things to do.

Oh yeah, Thanksgiving paddle was interesting. 1/2 way into the session a heavy head wind started up making it a tough paddle in. But was well worth the effort.

My phone is telling me it's going to be a nice temp, but rainy Sunday...anyone going to get out and paddle?
