New England - Can it be renamed North East?

So maybe I'm just bored... but...

Is there any serious objection to renaming the New England regional forum to North East?  The New England region is actually a smaller sub-region if you will.  It includes the states of ME, MA, VT, NH, RI and CT.  NY is technically a mid-Atlantic state along with PA, DE and MD.  You can't ignore the huge population centers of NYC and Philly.

It would be more accurate and more inclusive to use the term North East since it would include the megalopolis from Boston all the way south to DC which is nearly 50 million people.  I have no idea how many own a SUP... The US Census Bureau didn't include that data.

There really should be a separate Mid-Atlantic. Pa, Nj, DE aren't Northeast.  ;D

There's always been confusion about this, let me clear it up.

New York is a separate continent.

New England is Northwest of New York and is populated by people who speak funny. New Yorkers also speak funny but that's expected because they are a separate continent. The states to the west and south of New York obviously aren't in the Northwest since they are west and south of New York. They don't speak sufficiently funny to be in the Northeast and are simply in the wrong place. They can be considered southerners and/or midwesterners since they sound kind of that way anyway.

New Jersey is part of the continent of New York. It's where the "little people" live.

No one really knows where Pennsylvania is (seriously, can anyone point to Pittsburg on a US map?) or what it does other than housing any insurance companies that aren't in Connecticut--which no one really knows much about either. Sometimes Connecticuters seem like New Englanders (Northwesterners) and sometimes they seem like a subcontinent of New York.

Delaware is a legal fiction created to form corporations that want to behave irresponsibly. It doesn't really exist, any more than Maryland does (Maryland state motto: Tollway to Virginia and other places).

I hope that helps.

And neither of you can spell it! I second the motion for a Mid-Atlantic region.

spellcheck insists on burgh, but it looks wrong to me.

I forgot to mention that New York slices the USA into New England and All the Rest. There is a land bridge somewhere to the north called Canada, but it's a very cold and inhospitable place where any outdoor sport requiring liquid water must be done inside. It's something like outer space or the Moon.

The people speak normally except for a small number of words which are rendered in strange and confusing ways. "A Boot" for example, does not refer to footware and "worsh" has something to do with bathrooms. And instead of huh, duh, or um they say eh.

That looks like a Pittsburg worth living in!

I'm actually very fond of Pittsburgh. I did the Pittsburgh vintage grand prix there a few years ago and had a blast. Finished second or third as I recall, which always helps. http://www.peyoterace.com/pittsburgh-vintage-grand-prix/

We found lots of great restaurants and neighborhoods around Schenly park, had a fabulous drivers dinner at the arboretum or conservatory, or whatever it's called, which was also hosting a Dale Chihuly exhibit at the same time. We also raced at the little racetrack close by--forget the name, and went to a fancy dinner at a country club associated with the charity the Grand Prix benefits. Diane fell in love with an extended family of very accomplished and interesting people we shared a table with and wanted to adopt them, and they her. She still refers to them as "my real family".   Needless to say they were very far from dysfunctional.
