Anybody else catch the new show Off The Hook? The premier episode showed the host and another guy fishing for sharks in Florida on a couple of Hooked Sup boards.

What network?  I'd like to check it out.

I just checked my guide and it's airing again tonight on animal planet at 8:00 p.m. pdt (at least on directv  ch. 282).

The host is a little corny, he is a pro wrestler after all. Kind of cool though to see fishing in action.

This show is awesome!!!  It's on again tonight (Wednesday) -

Some of the guys at work have seen it and loved it, they all tell me I should try it, but somehow being on a SUP while tethered to a big angry fish with big teeth just does not sound like a good time

I have a pal who owns the record with a 150 lb ahi off a wndsrfr.  Catching the fish is one thing.  Dealing with a potential encounter with Count Basie is another.  He brought it to shore ... with no bites out of it.

thanks suprbowl for the heads up on this show. I finally got around to watching it on the dvr, and was surprised to see it taking place right near me.  Looks like they stayed in charlotte harbor, plenty of big sharks there during tarpon season. Interesting show, not too informative though. Also they didn't really show him getting pulled on the sup by the shark, that's the best part!

Thanks for the heads up. I caught the show last night on the DVR. It was filmed in my childhood backyard. I have fished those places for years and still do from time to time. Lot's of BIG hammerheads in the pass not far from where they were fishing. A local guide caught the world record hammerhead there a few years back. I believe it was around 14 feet and well over 1000 pounds. It dragged him something like 7 miles offshore in a 21 foot boat before he landed it. They had to load it on a boat trailer to take it to a local truck scale to weigh it. Would have preferred to see it released but he did end up giving it to the Mote Marine Lab for research.

Thanks for watching the show guys! It was fun to shoot!

Wasn't the record hammerhead closer to 18ft?? For some reason that's the info i got. Either way, great fishing around here. Hit me up when you're in the area. Jory - Florida Paddlesports

I'm just curious how long it took him to get comfortable on the board. I know they had to edit for time, but he went from falling off (like we all did at the start) to calmly fishing off it. Nice job. It looked like fun,

Velasco

That first board they had him on looked much narrower than the Hooked SUP he was fishing on - probably on purpose for the entertaining footage of a big guy falling.
