I hope we see more changes in color schemes in the near future from production board manufacturers.  I'm definitely over the following:

- wood veneer
- brushed carbon & white (the ungliest creation ever)
- yellow

The Coreban carbon/Kevlar race boards are great looking.  I'm sick of all my wood deck surf sups.  I like Infinity's lean towards youthful color pallets the best.  Gong has gone the opposite direction from the competition and it works well.  Some of the newer Starboards look pretty good....Sean Pointer has a white/green. Hope they move away from the white with the silver trim or girly trim colors.  Fanatic's wave series is a little too "euro" for me

Color is something that needs to occassionaly change to keep the brands fresh.

it will be nice if production board stop painting there board. Look at Hobies, they make some really sick looking board w/o paint.

Totally agree, I'm not a fan of the paint. I understand the need to paint over the black carbon for heat reasons, but I would like to see more fiberglass boards that are finished like a surfboard.
I saw some SUPatx boards with paint on the foam an pretty decent glass work. Too bad they ruined it with the big ugly logo.

Our wood veneer boards are flat out gorgeous...really popular...lots of character in the grain...in fact, I haven't personally seen any wood veneer SUP's from Cobra as nice looking...and, we've had scores of them move through our shop...top and bottom doubles the aesthetics...but, the veneer rail wraps that Coreban and Starboard have done are technically impressive...

We have a load of our new blue acid washed carbons due in this month...based on our pre-sales, our clients are liking the new look...

I couldn't agree more. Why can't they make them look like surfboards? My current board looks hellish where all the paint is chipped or  rubbed off.

Once my wife picked up a featherlight carbon board at SUP Sports in Santa Barbara, she stopped caring about the fact that the sanded white over carbon look wasn't very pretty. Now, if those blue-washed carbon boards were available at the time she would have gone for that. Awesome function is 95% of what I want in a board.

Personally I think SUP boards need to take a hint from snowboarding and skiing and get more graphical with their equipment. Like this custom Quatro windsurf board for instance.

Don't forget to bring a towel!

aesthetics are important. In this instance SUP surfing is somewhat akin to
whitewater river running. Both sports exist at the interesection of
art, ego, and wonder.
The pleasure principal was even noted by Captain Cook, who
commented on the 'pleasure' that polynesians took from surfing.
All is clouded by the stoke.

Lots of plain looking surftechs in my area. The wood grain looks nice to me and I think will increase resale value.
Thanks

I'll agree that some new graphics could look good, but they can over do it.  I know that they get dissed a lot, but the plain white surfboards really are nice, IMHO.  FCD company makes some really nice boards with some resin colors that I like too.  If I was shopping for a SUP, something that looked like a old school longboard would really appeal to me.

The clear resins/top coats with graphics laid in underneath can look great as well. And depending on the foam used you can play around with foam colors a well. You should see the kids sailing opti's go absolutely nuts over the blades with green foam for the core, even though they are exactly the same foam density and construction as the white foam blades.

Crazy how much money you can spend on Opti parts with zero performance gains. Kind of hard to make a bathtub go any faster but boy the kids (parents) sure try!

We joke about it at work a lot, as we spend a lot of time chasing that circuit around the country. The opti game is about 75% kid( 1/4 being ability and the rest mental), 20% sail(assuming the kid has the ability to trim it), and the rest is blades and hull.

We also joke that all of the "progression" in the opti class comes from the vendors(us) getting bored and trying new things while waiting on the kids to come back from sailing

The latest Coreban boards, the black and red ones look very dated and they have just been released 8-! Whats that all about. I especially hate the over sized logo on the side on the Corebans. I wont be buying one even though I quite like the new Dart specs.
