I definitely agree with Johnny--the way to get loose on your board is to get wet a bunch.  When I find myself getting sticky (it happens) I take out my Glide or a surfboard and just walk all over it. Walk up to the nose and let it sink under you. Try turning around. Paddle fins first and get the fins up out of the water. Fall a lot.

Easier to do in warm water, but really, that's the way to loosen up on your board.

My wife has NEVER fallen on a SUP, and that's the reason she will never loosen up and have fun. she has to be in total control all the time. Most gravity or wave sports just don't work like that, you have to surrender a lot of control and make it up with good recovery.

Great video PB!  My 10 year old has me back on a skateboard and I am loving it. Still just as much fun 20 years later.

Oh and the Goof board is not that easy!

The music is a great suggestion.  I have a waterproof shuffle I use out on the water and when I start getting tight I just focus on the song.  One day this past summer we saw 2 kids in the harbor playing around on a SUP.  They were having a contest to see who could do the craziest dance on the board, it was hilarious and they were amazing.  It was probably only their first day on the SUP but they were not scared of getting wet.  Fell in every time, but they probably learned more that day than us old farts do all year.

My other suggestion is start moving around right at the beginning of the paddle.  If you wait until too far into it you will feel stuck to the board.  Stay loose right from the beginning.

Have fun
