Oups!...   :D
Do you have any advice for the fins in shallow rocky water?
Are there any rubber fins available?
Or do we just remove them?

Still, I had a lot of fun!

Is there someone there who has tried the FCS Dolfin Softflex Fin?

I was wondering if it would be helpfull... humm
Does it flexes that much?

No this fin is still 100% fiberglass, it will not survive an encounter with a rock.

I guess your options are:
- rubber fins http://www.surfcohawaii.com/Super-Flex-Pro-Teck-Fins-s/62.htm
- many small fins rather than a big one (add boxes if you can)
- low aspect ratio fins: shallow but wide base.

You're lucky it was just the fin and not the finbox. Taking a board in today for repairs.... :(

We are using the Pro Tek fins mostly, but really at this point broken fins is just part of the game on the river.  Don't hit rocks  ;)

the wave looks fun!

Have used this style for hundreds of river miles without any issues.

Thanks! So I'll look for Pro Tek fins.

The wave is fun! But rivers are still very cold in Quebec!  :o

On really shallow rocky rivers I enjoy paddling without fins.  Otherwise the 7 in protek fin works killer. If you have 3 fin boxes take the center out and run 2 smaller sidebites like the protek superflex 4.25 inchers.  The sidebites have a more predictable feel going across eddy lines and through the swirls and don't stick down as far obviously.

I'm looking at the pro teck 4.5 super flex thruster 3 pack set in the link:

http://www.surfcohawaii.com/product-p/pt-sup-45-3.htm

Does anyone know if the center fin fits a standard center fin box, or is it designed for the smaller side fin boxes?  Are all 3 fins the same or are 2 the same and 1 different?  I've got Futures Fin boxes on my board.

I think the set up you are looking at can be ordered for Futures, FCS etc. But if you have the 2+1 set up I think you need to order a longboard fin too. For what it's worth I really like the FCS dolphin soft flex 7" center fin better than the ProTek and we have been testing all of them this summer.

We make a rubber fin that just snaps in and out without tools so you can use it on the go - in for some rapids, out for others... bends on rock contact etc.
