For wave-sailing, those boards are gonna be pretty big.
I'm 100 kg and currently ride the fanatic prowave 9'2" with 6 and 5.5,  7-18kn or so. 2'-6' waves
But, I am looking to invest in a paddler and will go Allwave 9'6' or 9'2" once they are back in stock.

Cool tube ride, thanks for sharing !
What size Fanatic were you on ?
Any comparison to last year's 9'0" or 9'6"

I have ridden the 9'6" for 6 months, but always with sail for light-wind wave sailing.....just sold it and am looking to purchase a new 9'2"

Nice pic.  The weight if the whole thing looks almost 50lbs.

Cool idea though.

I think I'll just make friends with people that live upwind and drop the sail there while I paddle back

This vehicle has WILLIAM written all over it !

'Not sure why it is taking the industry so long to catch on.......

As a heavy-weight I more than tripled my wave-sailing days by SUP-sailing  last season.
Besides getting out in super-light air or gusty off-shore, there are a few things you can do on a longer SUP, that you cannot on a short wave board.

If there's 5+ kn and waves, I'll rig my windsurfing sail.
I kited in the early days when ram-air F-one kite was the brand to buy and inflatables were not available.....I ain't going back.

If you can find it and the builder can work with it, check out Dyneema.
The strongest windsurfing boards incorporate this material.

southwesterly, thanks for the review and pic !
Is that a vent plug ? I know the boards are supposed to be light, what do you think the 9'8" weighs ?
I
I've been windsurfing my SUP's and am now ready to "graduate" and start paddling.
As a 225 lb "beginner", I am looking looking forward to your feedback on the 10'4" as well.

Here's a short video of us sailing Tony's gear

Unfortunately the person video taping came near the end of a 5-hour demo session, so we were a bit tired. Also, earlier the waves were a bit more conducive to bottom turns....great fun though and appreciate riding a fun board and rig.

After breaking (2)  in the waves last December, I came to my senses and started rigging my 6.2m sail on a longer mast and short carbon extension. Twenty-five (or so) sessions and no problems until Monday.
Monday I got slammed in the shore break and snapped my 460 rdm right below the boom. Wanting to redeem myself I went out again later, but with my 430 rdm and long carbon mast. I had 30 minutes of good riding when I got caught again on the inside and SNAP, there went the long extension.
Soooo, if you need to use a long extension, you may want to go aluminum.

I bet production costs are the same, probably around $450 at the Cobra factory.
Naish is a money-making-machine.

We ship our products domestically and internationally on a daily basis and while we may want to place all the blame on the freight companies, part of the blame may be placed on the way things are packed.
If you are paying $2500 for a custom board, I would ask the sender to crate it.

Quite a few guys here in Jupiter FL.
I'm out in the ocean when there are waves and a breeze/wind, with my Fanatic 10' Fly and usually 6.2m Naish sail.
Last Friday was a lot of fun, especially in later afternoon when winds went side-off and waves got cleaner.

I happen to be out SUP-sailing from 4PM-5:45PM, so same time-frame, but 10 miles south of the incident.
The wind was solid 20kn N. when I started, but around 5:15PM felt quite a drop in wind which lasted around 10 minutes. It's possible Stephen experienced the same lull, and maybe the kite came down....we may never know what really happened. Being so close to home, I've been thinking about the tragedy constantly and am truly sorry.

At the same time, I'm surprised (and thankful) we do not have more incidents. I remember some very long swims with my non-relaunchable ram-air F1's .... I definitely prefer to be on the SUP or windsurfer.
