I will down there next week Nov 16th. Looks like there could be some surf. How has it been lately. How close are you to Apple Bay or Long Bay?

Congrats, in Tortola if you are going during the winter chances are you will be able to find some good surf. There is a shop that has rentals, I believe it is called HIHO

Have fun

I appreciate all the feedback and replies. It seems that everyone is kind of in limbo and there are a bunch of different opinions.
I know that there are a lot of folks on this forum with heavy industry ties and involved with the WPA, is there a way to use this forum and its connections to get some sort of consensus and a standard that is applied to all races?

I have the 9'6 and I really enjoy the board. I am 6'2 185 lbs and the board has a ton of float for me. As some of the others on here have mentioned not much glide but it surfs well. I would recommend this board to anyone my size

I am in the market for a new race board and I am torn between going for a 12'6 or a 14. I am 6'2 185lbs and my old board was a 12'6. I don't want to by a 12'6 and it become obsolete because classes change. Most races seem to have a 14' division and there seem to be more and more guys entering.

What are your thoughts?
Do you think that the race categories will ever change or is 12"6 always going to be the stock class, and the most competitive or is it shifting to under 14?
Anyone in the industry out there with some information regarding this? Is the WPA considering making any formal changes?

Thanks for the help

Thanks

I appreciate everyone's replies. I was interested in hearing everyone's opinions and it seems that the consensus is drafting is a good thing

How would you ban drafting? Would there be a maximum amount of distance or time that you can sit on someone's tail?

I am not totally sure, I guess it would be a tough thing to regulate, but you could say if you are XXX distant behing someone and do not make a move to pass within XXX seconds. I have not done a ton of races but the races I have done all have had boats in the water who could be on watch for this. Just thoughts, I appreciate the feedback

Yeah I was thinking more about flat water and buoy type races.

I kind of wish that this would be regulated and not allowed. Just wondering what others thoughts are

I wanted to get everyone's opinions on drafting during races. Do you think it will be regulated as it is in many triathlons? Is this something the WPA will look into?

I have that same board in carbon without the recessed deck. (it was a custom). I like the board a lot and have had it out in a lot of different conditions. I use it a lot in flat water but have taken it out about 3 miles offshore in with some decent east coast swells. It worked really well out there. The hard rails in the back really help a lot.
If you are looking for one I may be selling mine, or if you have any other questions about the board let me know. He makes really nice boards
