Just getting back to surfing after a close to 2 month forced break...badly sprained knee. It's still a little tender, wearing a brace and its a bit weak. Went out today, waist to chest with heavy offshore winds. Late drops were the order of the day on my 9'er. Even just taking it easy it was tough.  Knee wasn't letting me move much and it really showed in my surfing. Gotta work on getting this thing stretched out.

For any newbies reading this (I consider myself just out of that stage) ...work hard on moving around on yoiur board. It wasn't that long ago that I wasn't very mobile anyway. Learning to step to the rails and cross stepping to the front and back are probably the most fundemental things you can work on to improve your surfing.

I've got two weeks of enforced idling, and I'm going nuts. I had that big varicose vein zapped so I'm spending a lot of time in tights with my leg up in the air.

I think forcing yourself to move around on a surfboard is the fastest way to learn. People that plug themselves into a single spot and just try to ride waves wind up stuck in a rut. Loosen up. move around, get your back foot going to the rail you're turning to, bend your knees, get your ass down low and push the tail around. You fall in a lot, but you learn a lot more.

Geez Bill...I didn't think you wanted folks to know about the tights and legs in the air thing....are you coming out about the tutu as well?

Trust me on this, the tights are bad enough.

Cant agree with the title more. We have included Mobility training combined with our balance training and its the missing link in total body strengthening. Its one of the best trainings to rejuvenate ones youth.
