Ok, I am a little anal about my board. I have had nicks and dings, but I'll go to quite some length to avoid them. I had my board out on a big swell, at the end of it my buddy lent it, and he is used to riding without a leash (don't ask my why) so has has this habit of jumping down on the board holding on to it and the paddle...this led of course to him putting a nice little paint ding on my board....

now I am wondering how to fix it. Before I've just put blank ding fix, but I want to make a little better job on this board. Anyone have a good suggestion? The board itself is not hurt...

LagoonSurfer

You say it's a ding. When I've had paint marks on my board I use a hand towel and some glass clearer and it takes the paint (like from the car) right off. Does nothing for indentations, though.

Hey lagoon sorry I should have specified. It is a paint nick..just a flake that came off, and I want to cover it up, and make it look nice....

I use Solarez for all my small crack and ding repair.

Yes this is what I am thinking too. Get some 2 component epoxy, paints ticks and some clear coat to make it nice.

I saw this clear plastic you can put on your rails to protect them, but I am thinking it will not really protect it, but just keep the pain in place if you hit the board...I dunno...

depends how big.  If it's small paint chip like half an inch or less, just touch up with automotive or modeling paint.  if it's large, epoxy, spray paint, wet sand, and polish.

Awesome H.

Do you use a power tool for wetsanding? Any recommendations there? I just want the boards to look decent after and not as if they've been through a grinder :-)

My PSH 9'2'' AA is red.   5 min epoxy, sand down next day, apply red magic marker.       Done dot com.

Does anyone know a company that can make custom spray paint where you can give them the pantone colors?

Here's a simple solution that I use.

nice did u epoxy it 1st?

No.. It's just to seal it till a proper fix is done.. I think it's better than just using tape.

Can anyone see anything wrong with using nail polish as a touch up paint and sealer?

Great idea! I will check to see if they have a nail polish in the color of my SUP.
