Well I pulled the trigger and ordered a custom downwinder.  She's going to be 15'x28"  ESP with carbon top and bottom. Concave to flat to Double concave to V bottom or something like that and an F-14 type nose  I 'm leaving it to the experts.  I'm sooo STOKED!!!
Now I have to figure out the top graphics.  I'm thinking different shades of blue to make it look like the water color around Maui.
Now I have a good  excuse to head to Maui and hang for a few months this summer.

$#%^  YAAA!!

Congrats!  That paint scheme might make it hard for the Coast Guard to find your body however.  Just kidding, sounds beautiful.

Too cool.. but seriously, I'd think about adding at least some bright color... Livio's F-16 has yellow fading into the blue.. very pretty but still visible.

Congratulations!  I'll be looking forward to hearing more about this board.  I also agree with greatdane and noworries - I'd strongly recommend that you choose a color scheme that would provide higher visibility, just in case.  If you're really set on the various shades of blues for the deck, then maybe you could put a bright color deckpad on it at the least.  Hopefully it won't ever be an issue, but if you ever find yourself in a dangerous situation, it could really help.

Thanks guys.

I never thought about the visibility issue.  I will take your advice and add some bright color.

Make sure the edges are visible too. You want to be able to see the board if you have to swim for it. White is a lousy color, so is blue. Yellows, reds, orange and anything striped

A white bottom is a good idea.

The sad truth is your chance of being spotted from the air is really low unless you have taken other precautions...white being exceptionally hard to spot from the air or water as bill mentioned and solid RED being the most visiable...high vis clothes good for other water traffic but not really helpful for air rescue so take other precautions....check this out...helped encourage me to get a S.P.O.T. unit and tell my wife where I will be going...a good general artical, please read this!
