wow- thats a rough first ride...

Actually, it was my "third" ride. First ride was very early Saturday morning (thirty minutes before sunrise). Second ride was early Saturday evening (about an hour before sunset) and Sunday morning close to 8:00am was when I got bit.

Well, today was the day I was hoping my surgeon would give me the okay to get back on the water. But, I knew before I saw him earlier today, that was not going to happen. Since I have to have a new dressing every morning and every evening of every day, I could still see a small hole in my left hand at 5:00am this morning. This is where the spider sank it's fangs into me and injected me with it's venom. As soon as my surgeon removed the dressing, he saw it too and he said he would not release me to get back on the water.

The good news is that the bite hole is becoming smaller and the tissue is filling in from the bottom of the bite hole going towards the top of my hand. I've been in "dry dock" for the last 6 weeks. My surgeon thinks my hand will be totally healed in two more weeks time. And I'm hoping he's right on that prognosis. Right now, I've got "sup withdrawal" symptoms.
