Can Tino or someone who knows please confirm the volume on the Flow 8'7?

I've seen 120, 121 and 124 from different sources. Is there a true volume or does it vary?

Badger,

I'm not Tino but I can say with authority that the Volume of the 8'7 Flow is 121L

Now as you know with Sunova designs can be modified so folks could pick up volume through other modifications

OR
They could just be mistaken

Hope this helps OR  Feel free to contact me

Thanks Jim, I know there are a few customs out there. I just needed to make sure the Sunova website number was correct.

I'll go with 121 as the volume to expect on the 8'7.

I see now. The reason why you see different volumes here and there on the net is because they have been changed each year, apparently as they fine tune the design.

If I understand it correctly, in 2014, the volume of the Flow 8'7 was 110. To me that was perfect. They should have left it there. Last year it was 124 which was pretty high. This year it's 121, still a bit high IMO.

I'm pretty sure 121 liters is going to be too much volume for my 170 +- lbs so I guess I'll have to go with the 8'4. I just hope the 29 3/8" width isn't too narrow for me.

That will be my only alternative if the 8'4 doesn't work.

I think my problem with the World Wide 8'5 is volume and thickness, not width. I have a feeling the 8'4 Flow will be an improvement.

Easy!
It's finished. You'll love it. It'll ship next Monday. Latest. Cinnamon also took the 8'7 and do you have nothing to worry about  ;D

Oh and here the actual (true) story of the volumes...

The flow was designed by Bert after the success of the Speeed to cater for a specific market, who has medium to advanced skills, and with more performance in mind than the soul.
The first protos we made had that lower volume and even tho they performed amazing they were a bit too extreme. Thus Bert found a way to increase 10L of volume without sacrificing the performance. He hated the idea, BUT at the end was super stoked with the result.
In this case it allowed the same volume with almost 3" less length. Or the same length with more stability.

The feedback we received after that was great and it confirms Bert's stoke for this board.

The last 3L mistake was simply my mistake as we had to release this model before we actually made all sizes. And you can only get so close with the actual file.

Hope that helps and sorry for the confusion.
Looking forward to hear your comment when that baby finally gets to you next week.

Thanx.

Excellent!

Thanks for the explanation. The more I learn about the Flow, the better I like it.

I'm looking forward to trying both the 8'7 and the 8'4. I'm hoping the 8'4 is the one.

I've got a question for the Sunova.

How do you guys measure its volume? Do you put sample block of foam in the water and see how much it pushes out and figure out from there? I'm sure that you guys aren't submerging the whole board in a gigantic tub.

I'll bet the guys in the Shape Shack would know how it's done.  8)

In the old days submerging the whole board completely under water was exactly how it's done. We had a 5m x 1m tank in cobra and that was that. These days things are digital and thus the shaping app is exactly calculating the volume for us.
