I've been keen to really give a sub-100 L board a go ever since trying Socalsupper70's Phoenix V3 back in February. I pulled the trigger earlier this summer and worked with Dave on sizing up a smaller RNB (vs my 8'6 RNB for the choppy days or days that I felt like cruising). The new one arrived a couple of weeks ago and I had a chance to surf it last weekend on a trip out to the coast. Man oh man...I love it. I'm a small guy (145 lbs + rubber) so it floated me no problem. Obviously it was less stable then what I've been riding (118 L boards), but it was plenty stable. I had no problems trolling out back or catching waves. And the ride! So light and agile. Fun fun fun. 7'6 x 28, 95 L.

I put on some FCS dimple pad under the standing position. I love wax, but found on my other boards that it melted under my feet in the center spot. The dimple pad is awesome. Thin, light and has good grip.

Sweet board :-)   I much prefer smaller boards.  Glad to hear you like the dimple pad, I will probably give this a try on my new Phx.

Oh ya.  The dimple pad is great.  I lucked out and found a roll of it on discount at a local kiteboard shop.  Apparently some guy placed a special order for it to put on a home-built SUP, but then never picked up.  If I keep just using it as a center patch like in the pic above, I probably have enough for 3 or 4 boards. your front side rail is shorter?

infinity makes some awesome boards. definitely gonna pick one of their stick on after Thanksgiving sale.  Last year they were selling their short boards for less than $350 I believe.

The heel-side rail is shorter.  The front-side rail is longer (the one with the wing).

The guys at Infinity had some left over bits of Dave's signature OAM pad laying around so I had them put those on instead (price was right).  Didn't turn out too bad.   Still might try the dimple pad in the future.

Oh ya!  Looks awesome.  Man, I'd love to try your Phx back-to-back with my RNB to compare the ride.

Deal!  The price is a guided tour of your home breaks.  (....I'm only half kidding.)

Let me know if you are ever in the South Orange County CA area.   If you like your RNB I am guessing you'd like my PHX.  It is super fast (fastest board I've owned to date),  turns on a dime without having to move your back foot around a lot (like the v2 PHX).  Nice and light (<13lb with pad and fins).  Very stable.

Anytime my friend.... come on out! ;D
Come Monday for a REAL taste of New England juice!
It is the classic set-up.... Hurricane passing SE of Cape Cod.... R.I will be big with strong offshores and nasty rain..... waaaahooo!

About the dimple pad:
I just picked up a "duct tape special" .... a 2008 - 12'6 Starboard Cruiser. Full deck pad is threadbare and needs to be completely replaced.(it scrapes off with a fingernail)
Let's talk, if you are serious about selling the rest of the dimple roll.... I need all I can get  :D

Surfafrica- your board looks pretty similar to mine except color of course and 1" narrower. I weigh almost 50 lbs more than you,  though. Curious - did Dave bring the thickness all the way or through your rails like he did mine?

You know how much I love the Ninja Turtle,  just curious about the differences.

There's definitely a bit of a dome on there.  It actually looks like more in these pictures than when I look at the board itself.
