Hey Guys,

Just wanted to give you an assesment. I have been surfing this board for a couple of months now, mostly small wave (up to chest high) and I am having a blast with it. My first board ever was a 2013 AllWave 9'3" then I got a JP WideBody 8'6" (136L) and surfed the JP for a year. Oh I am a big one 210lbs heheh, so I was nervous about the 120 liters of this 8'3".

Because it is very wide i think its still floats me enough and is stable enough for me not to have to work TOO hard.

Performance-wise it is simply awesome for my size/weight. I am doing moves I could not do before even rocking some 360's on it from a nose ride position. I prefer riding it as a quad, a little "looser" thus great for the mush:

So there you have it - Supping from Aruba!

eastbound

first decent day last sunday on my new AW 8'11". made a few steep sections i thought i wouldnt. getting used to the rails, holding well.  made most drops despite 20 knot offshore. releuctant to say more, given my abilities would be the weak link.

plan is to let creek use it smae day and produce a proper review.

took two trips to fisherman's huts 20 years ago in my WS era. heard, at the time, waves were few are far between at aruba.

Great to see a review and some action on the new smaller design Allwave's.
Most excellent 360 and nice to have a video of it  ;D

Love to see more videos  the board in action.

How does the stability compare to you 8'6 Wide Body? Wave catching ability?

First off thanks everyone for the compliments  :D. My epic NOOO soundbite always makes me laugh, I thought I had it, been trying to spin the board all day. I realised that on the last ONE DEGREE I have to step back a little so the board doesn't dive.

I will try to make another video on some of the characteristics on my next session.

Comparison JP WB 8'6 vs AW 8'3:
Well the JP is VERY STABLE a great board (especially with smaller fins). But the AW 8'3 is considerably thinner (and 16 liters less) so if I do not paddle its starts to sink a little. Once I am on the wave it feels "short boardy". I feel like I can get more speed/accelarate quicker & can carve into the rail more. And the big SUPRISE is that it catches waves almost as good as my JP.

Once i got back on my JP it felt a little BULKY and I just want to go back to the faster AW. It is now my main board and use it for 1 foot waves to head high. Eventhough on Aruba that is like 6 times a year  :-[.

These pics are a more typical wave for us:

In short I took a risk to see the smallest I can go without sacrificing the fun factor and the AllWave did exactly that. It feels like a custom board with very little compromises. My JP is now my cruiser board.

How is the 8'3" for paddling around.  Can you get it to go in a straight line?  How many strokes per side?

Spookini now that you mention it, I do live on a paradise island ;). I have lived in holland and have surfed there, only did it between april and august because as an islander i cannot get used to the cold/booties. So you have reminded me to enjoy my home eventhough we dont have big swell. ;D

Paddling around with the 8'3 is a little work, because I sink it if just standing. Straight line is about 3-5 strokes per side depending on the wind (Aruba VERY WINDY). If there is no wind/waves and i want to go cruise around (which is actually alot of fun) I would go with the JP WB 8'6" for sure.

hey Radical fun video,  where is that break? I windsurfed many times years ago around Fisherman's Huts before they built all those wind blocking hotels..  are you down the coast toward Calif lighthouse?  I remember a fun wave breaking down that way...I can imagine the wind plays havoc sometimes when it comes to SUP...
