If you look at Kyle Mochizuki on pg 64 in the most recent journal, take note of his paddling style.  I thought i had heard on previoius forums that bending over was not such a great idea because of potential back problems, but man, that guy is leaning forward.  My guess is his paddle is somewhat short because of how low he gets?  I'd be currious to hear comments on his form.  Look at the photo in the upper right corner of pg. 64.  Contrast that with the paddler on the top of pg 67.

I would scan those in for all to see but i'm sure that is a copyright violation.

arron naploean does that too.  If you hinge at the hip and push your butt back while leaning on the paddle at the catch, it actually works well (to this beginner) is esp if you are going into the wind.

You can see he gets bent over almost parallel to the water on most of his strokes. watch at 2:48, 3:28, 5:23

Arron is a legend in OC-1 and seems to be winning a lot of SUP events
