No vid... just some tips

The great thing about big boards is that you can get into the waves early, this allows you some extra time to set up your turn.

- First...move your fin all the way forward.
- Your board stats say it has decent tail rocker... use it....
- To really turn a big board you need to move around on it.
- Move your rear foot back... way back... near the tail.
- Shift your weight to your back foot and in the direction you want to turn... the board will come right around.
- Shift your weight to the front foot to trim. Repeat for every turn.
To practice:
Try a REALLY hard turn on a kickout... it will show you just how fast you can bring any board around.

For more advanced turns
- Place both your feet closer to the inside rail than the middle of the board. That will require you to really move around on your board.

Remember: if you aren't falling... you're not trying hard enough. ;D

wow, that guy is good.  i esp. like his switch-foot turns.  classy stuff!

NICE!
I knew you guys would come thru for me!

I've only tried a reverse take off a couple of time and it was NOT pretty.
Apparently, I need more time in the water.
Those are some impressive videos of small wave suping.

Sup the creek,
That is good info, since I go right in my backyard ill put it to work!
I had decided that I need a shorter board but the August board is the same size as mine.

I'm going to get at least an hour on the water every day in June and see what happens.
A week and a half and my board shorts are too big ;D

dk78.... great score... that video was more fun than watching the world SUP tour. :)
Nothing I like better than watching someone who can ride a longboard like that... so much style and flow.... makes me want to ride that August. He made it look lighter than it probably is.

JB... dk's vid was perfect to show how fast a big board will turn if you move around on it.

So when I went this evening, I made several tight turns.
The surf was maybe shin high with a knee high set now and then but it all was closing out.
I was able to make some turns with my back foot on the tail and once the nose comes up it really does pivot pretty well!
My attempts at the inside rail 360's were pretty funny though.

Maybe we will get some waves from the disturbance in the lower gulf in a few days.

Meanwhile, I put an Allwave finatic on order!
