Anyone know how to do smooth slow motion on iMovie?

Anyone know how to do smooth slow motion on iMovie? Or what would be a good, cheap editor for making slow motion? I use a GoPro so the fps in the video is pretty quick, but still when I try and slow it down in iMovie it just gets super choppy.

Ive used the slo-mo option in iMovie and seems to work fine for me (see vid).

If you are using GoPro 2 or better/newer I think you have a high speed slow-mo setting on the camera that should ive better quallity and you can use the speed control in iMovie to bing it back to normal speed if you like.. It will use more card and takes longer to download/upload.

Plus the free Vimeo has some size limits for video dwnldng.  If you make it over 5 min, even at regular (no slo-mo), you'll be over their limit.
