Hobie 12/6 racer?

Any one tried the 12/6 Hobie racer?
It has a "nicer" price tag than others. The bottom looks kind of like the Lahui Kai.
Can anyone compare this to a 14' racer?
I am a 200 pounder so i am leaning to a 14' custom.

I beat Marksride on his Lahui kai in Seattle last week on it.Big Day for me..!!

Back to the question by paddlejones.I'd take a look at buying Marksride's Lahui Kai..If you really want a Hobie Buy mine and I'll buy Mark's Lahui Kai..

I've ordered a 14' Ron House custom.
I think if i went with a 12/6 that i would still want a 14' so i am skipping the 12/6. thanks for the offer. but aren't you faster on the hobie?

Wondering if you guys can help with this this. I've been looking at the 2010 Hobie 12'6"--there seem to be two versions: The PFX and the CFX.

Here, and in the linked pdf catalog on the right of the page, Hobie describes the construction as PFX:

I would assume from the intials (and pictures) that CFX is a combo of carbon fiber and fiberglass; from the Hobie catalog, it looks like the PFX is some kind of semi-proprietary sandwich that doesn't have carbon fiber in the mix.

Anyone know if I have this right.  (Seems strange because the pricing doesn't seem to be materially different between the two.)

And Lee, the description of your board above as "delicate," is that the CFX, the PFX, or something different (like full carbon, which I know (think?) they also make).

Bottom line is that I don't want something "delicate" at this point (2 teenagers in the house . . . ).

hey hows it goin ... I have a custom 2010 12-6  "PCX" elite board, my understanding is that the PCX board is a Poly-carbon blend and the PFX board was the production board which is about $600 less, i dont know what its made of.....but now Hobie has the CFX board.  its best to call Hobie sup directly and find out.  They are very helpful.  As for the board being "delicate"  I can tell you Mark Johnson shaped my board and its very tough.  Ive dropped it in the parking lot and been rammed by a kayak with no dings..no problems....no worries....fast board.....but it always comes down to the paddler

Thanks for the reply Doms1--appreciate the input.  (Although another designation (PCX) wasn't what I has hoping to hear!)  I think your suggestion re a call to Hobie is a good one.  Thanks again.

yeah sorry about that.....from what I was told the PCX is not being made anymore because of problems getting the material from the supplier...but then again I could be wrong If thats the case I apoligize...other than that the Hobie 12-6 Elite is a great board....

Yes, I own one of those latest CFX,very versatile board, and fast...12'6"*27 3/4, I'm 160lbs
Construction is rather tough, stability's perfect with that big concave just under you feet.
In cross chop, it's as fast as my UL Bark because it's way more stable.
