here's a new fun one i just found.  the guy is on a Rusty.  Damn fine rider.

One more.  Mad skills on a 9.2 PSH AA.  Watch for the moment when he hops his board over a tourist.  Too funny!

Nice one Erik!!  That cat is weaving through those tourists like crazy!  I would be nervous to be riding a wave as close to them as he is, let alone pulling helicopters and switch stance stuff - nice one!

Matt looks a bit like Laird except Laird does this in well overhead waves.

i hate helicopters but still and all, thanks!  that's a great new addition to a great old thead!!!

linter

time to revise this ol thread for a vid i just found:

see 5min44sec for a very neatly executed drop-knee kick out on a SUP.  i like!  i wish i could do!

meanwhile, anyone just joining this thread, feel free to contribute w/ vids of longboard-style SUP moves: noseriding, cross stepping, drop knee stuff, whatever.

Saw this other day...I think it fits in nice here

linter

yup, that's exactly what i'm talking about.  love his drop knee stuff.  very classy.  (and, for my money, much more thrilling to watch than all this short-board slash and burn that seems to have overtaken the SUP scene ...)

Good call Linter... I love this stuff!
This is a parallel universe to prone surfing:
Boards were long... a style emerged that made the best use of that size board... it was beautiful!

Along comes the revolution... boards got shorter every year... style was redefined as slash, rip & tear. Lots of fun to do, but missing the grace, flow and imagination of longboard finesse.

Longboards were revived and given new life in the early 90's
Why?????? .... because it is a sport unto itself and it appeals to a different breed of surfer.
It had been swept aside too long.... but it wouldn't die ;D

Same thing in SUP.
I love to ride my shorter board.... BUT I constantly mull over longer designs in my head... because I don't want to lose the magic that a longboard brings. SUP & Longboard style is a perfect fit!
