TallDude

Nice flights Ralph. The swell is building. I'll probably hit tomorrow am.

FYI, when I made my first YouTube videos I used some Stevie Ray Vaughan tunes. Soon after I got a slap on the wrist for using it. They usually let it stay, but tell you they boot you off it it happens again. I now use stock music provided by YouTube. It's ok background music.

It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Beasho

Sick!

Flying down the line stuffing proners out flying everyone.  This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Hmmm. Did you get the complete set of mast/fuselage, and wing...or are you trying to retro fit a new Iwa wing onto another/older fuselage?

I only ask bechause I was speaking with Karla yesterday wrt purchasing the new 29.5" mast, and she said that they don't sell individual components just do to their production process, and all of the wings are manufactured to the individual fuselage they'll be sold with.

If you did purchase the set, then this video should help....

...and what I had to do to get both of my wings in the fuselage (I have the Iwa/M200 set).

An inch sounds like a bit of a distance, and honestly, I can't remember exactly how far I had to "pound" mine on with a mallet...but I can say that I remember thinking that "this friggin' thing is never gonna go on the fuselage", and was worried about breaking things. But then with fingers-crossed, a look to the guy in the sky, and a little Lanolin oil spray on the fuselage tip...I gave it a pretty good, solid whack, and "POP!"...the wing went right on and lined up with the screw hole perfectly.

They're pretty solid, and tough wings, so do be afraid to smack it pretty good with a rubber mallet (I actually used a plastic dead-blow), and I think you should be fine. Unless you got the wing separately, and if that's the case, I'm not sure exactly to what to tell you.

Good luck,
Dave

Dwight (DW)

Sand the male part down to fit.. they do the mold wax gel coat trick to tighten up the other wings that would now be loose.

I have one of the first generation Kai's
This Iwa is tight.

If it were me...I'd do as DW suggests, and sand the fuselage end to fit the Iwa, and if you ever feel the need to use the Kai again...then just use shims as needed to tighten it up.

I'd also only sand enough to lessen that 1" to maybe a 1/2", and than "mallet it" on the rest of the way...slop in the wing is no bueno IMO.

Nothing like a little pee in the punch bowl.  At least get the quote right

"Flying down the line stuffing proners out flying everyone.  This is just the tip of the iceberg."

I am reminded of this beautiful passage:

"At the next vacancy for God, if I am elected, I shall forgive last the delicately wounded who, having been slugged no harder than anyone else, never got up again, neither to fight back nor to finger their jaws in painful admiration.
They who are wholly broken, and they in whom mercy is understanding, I shall embrace at once and lead to pillows in heaven.  But they who are the meek by trade, baiting the best of their betters with the exhortations of a mock-helplessness I shall take last to love, and never wholly let them all into Heaven--I abolish hell--but let it be read over them as they enter:
'Beware the calculations of the meek, who gambled nothing, gave nothing, and could never receive enough.'"
