Reid told me that folks needed blankets, warm clothes and Home Depot cards.

whats needed most,

cleaning materials
shovels
garbage bags
paper towels
diapers

thanks all!

Sandy didn't just destroy coastal communities like Long Beach.  Towns including Oceanside and Island Park are still without power and completely devastated , just crazy.

Just talked to my buddy from Toms River... just inland from Seaside heights that was mowed down.
His mom has a house on the beach in Seaside Park.

He said the whole place is under Marshall Law
The houses that weren't destroyed all have serious water damage. It must be corrected before mold destroys the houses.
They are not allowed on the island. They are not allowed to work on their property.

To stop looters, they are denying the homeowner the chance to save their house.
Typical government action..... save he TV's... sacrifice the home.

On Monday, they were given several hours to remove personal items.

Anything that was left out of the homes is being bulldozed into waste containers for disposal.
Boats included. He said his buddy was being paid $200 an hour to drive a bulldozer. They take perfectly good boats that are on land and destroy them as part of the cleanup.

It seems to me that in America, property owners should be allowed to assess their own damage. It's not unsafe to be there. The authorities are exercising too much control in my book.

I'll update my clothes drive with these items, Reid. I know I'll be able to get some kid-sized winter clothes too.

This is good, actually. A lot of my kids want to contribute but they've already done clothing drives. This way they can get some cleaning supplies to assist.

If I get these supplies to you on the weekend of the 18th, will that work?

It seems to me that in America, property owners should be allowed to assess their own damage. It's not unsafe to be there. The authorities are exercising too much control in my book.

Same Gestapo tactics were used here in 1995. Residents vowed to never evacuate again during a hurricane. Just think, people who didn't evacuate are taking care of their property, while those who followed orders are kept out. It got so bad here, people were threatening to risk their lives and begin swimming across to the island our homes were on.

And we were hit bulls eye by a second hurricane 4 weeks after the first.
