50 years of dirtbikes, jackhammers, snowskis, skateboards, skilsaws, surfing, sailing, bulldozers, waterskis, 4Xs,climbing..falling, earthmovers, sportbikes, mean women....

I've got something that hurts everyday...  ;D

Menlo SUPr

47 here. Foot surgery kept me out of the water for a few months, but not being in great shape keeps me from doing more. I'm hoping more SUP time changes that. A lot more grins than in the gym, that's for sure (and I never had dreams of working out in the gym, but seem to have a lot of paddling ones).

Glider

Will turn 59 in 2 weeks, I try to paddlesurf or crawl surf or windsurf everyday.
Some days everything hurts some days all is good.

after the "who started old" thread I realized I skew the average age down a bit at only 26, but my body has been abused, beaten, and shot so sometimes I feel like I'm 90. Bad back, hips, and knees are half the reason for me sup surfing more than prone anymore.

53...but i think this type of board has a selection bias towards older members.

up until 35 or so I never had an injury that did not resolve.  Mid 30-mid 40s started getting more lasting injuries.. meniscal tears and tendon tears and the like.  Mid 40s to now- lots of "over use syndromes" (tennis elbow) and degenerative arthritis.

Getting old is a bitch, but it beats the alternative.

16 and type 1 diabetic. doesnt really effect paddling unless your sugars are out of wack.

46 but pretend I am 21. Eating right but not being a priss about it.  Doing yoga.  Do protein shakes  before and recovery drink after each session. Constantly paddling during each session except for the rare bro talk... Got to keep the board upright. No nagging injuries yet other than the missing fingertip (knock on wood).

56   In the best shape of the last 10 years, in part from the last year of Supping! - surfing as much as I can and flat paddling when surf conditions are very poor.  I try to be out every day and it works out to be about five to six days per week - forty five minutes to two hours per session.

No chronic injuries except some ligament damage (from playing volleyball and living up three flights of stairs during the poor recovery) behind my right knee - but it is also
in the best shape of about the last 10 years is not at all affected negatively by Supping.

I credit good nutrition, supplements, recovery meals, etc. and Supping.

Supping has been very very good to me!

I'm 61 and have my share of erosion but it ain't nothing compared to Pono Bill.  I think he's 64 or so and we've done several runs since he's been back from Hood River.  I will never complain again about anything..  Pono has one knee that doesn't bend and he's freaking downwind paddle boarding, usually whistling a tune while he does.  This is a guy that you could shoot several times and he'd just keep coming, asking if that's all you got.  Yet he has a mile long grin... all the time.  So I just watch him and figure if he's OK then I'm OK and complaining won't help.

I think most guys on this forum will ride their horse until it dies under them.  Why not?

42 and good to go. Crossfit, paddling and trail running are doing their job. I figure I'm training for my seventies.
