Always loved Kenalu paddles but there is little info about their new OC paddles and there are no demos. I already corresponded with Lane but would like some feedback if anyone has tried them. So much tradition in outrigger paddling makes it a tough market to break into. Thanks!

Is anyone changing the length of the shaft for Mana vs Konihi to account for difference in blade length?

I really liked the cryo cuff they gave me to keep the swelling and pain down, especially at night. Went thru a few bags of ice the first days after surgery, even used it after the first pt sessions. Had the spur/ decompression surgery last July. Getting a ski and adjustable paddle helped the most, as it was easier on the shoulder and allowed me to shorten it on the fly when it became uncomfortable. The shock of the catch of my Konihi 84 was too much. Built strength with the Ski, then used Mana 82 on SUP to get back in groove. Now I'm paddling longer distances than before surgery, but have to rotate between ski and sup. Good luck and stay optimistic, not paddling for a few months was the most depressed I've been since high school!

I'm in Tennessee valley, no wind just boat wakes, the 17' fits in my small garage and is plenty fast, slightly tippy, my goal is to have an intermediate boat like the Think EVO or V8 pro, so I went with the tipper EZE rather than ace which is rock solid. Need a solid board to develop stroke technique.

This provides a good summery of skis. The ski has been a blessing for the recovery of my shoulder after surgery, so much easier on the shoulders than sup and the adjustable paddles allow you to shorten them for even less stress. Finally able to SUP again but still need the ski for low impact. The speed of the ski is addictive. I have a Think EZE, love it!

Yes its' the same Ben that paddled 200 miles in 24 hours on the Yukon and from Cuba to Florida that started the race a few years ago. Also a very talented jazz musician. His ex-wife founded "Swim the Suck", a 10 mile open water swim also in October that I sometimes pilot for on SUP. Seems as though everyone is an athlete in this town, like your summer home.

46 degrees at the start although it was 90 degrees on thursday, it was a mass of paddle enthusiasts. Joe Bark and Larry were there. Wind is rare in the valley but it was roaring during the race. At least it wasn't raining! Great to see everyone there, I was a spectator. They had more than one portajohn this year too! If you look at 9:30 on the video you'll see Ben Frieberg (race founder) create a large wake through the surfski field, causing many to turn 90 degrees to battle the wave. One ski (Jeff) was surfed towards the dock and he barley missed it. Very frustrating for the paddlers.

I have a 2013 gray carbon SB Sprint 14'x25" that love and it took awhile to do the 5 at 5 (5 miles at 5mph). The carbon started wearing thin on the bottom so a shop added a smooth layer of epoxy to extend its life. I feel it may have slowed it down a bit. I recently bought a SIC 14'x24" pro lite that doesn't paddle as well but it's much easier to maintain 5+ mph. Feel a difference between concave sprint vs convex SIC. So a different board may increase your speed - buy performance when you can.

Former presidents know what it takes to be a good one.  None of the living presidents support Thump. Personally, I can't figure out how an educated person could vote for him. Only understand the white nationalist/racist people who are so greedy they want more privilege by denying others what America offers. (Not calling anyone this, only see that point of view)

The aspect I noticed most about the Mana 82 after switching from my Konihi 84 is the release, my cadence is much higher due to the easier / faster release and seems easier on my shoulders.

I second body glove 3T shoes, construction isn't great but much easier than the 5 Toe vibrams. Love mine, they are holding up. Revelation going from booties to these on surf ski, I can actually bend my toes to control rudder.

Dont know yet. The carpal tunnel really doesn't bother me, it's the narrowing of the nerve canal on top of my left shoulder that is the real issue. If not due to a cyst, they just cut a ligament to provide room, not even close to rotator cuff tear, so I'm optimistic. Don't believe doc that paddling caused it.
