Just got back from a downwiner in 30 to 40knts and when i hit the beach i had no way of carrying the board on my own. It just seemed to flap like a rag doll.
Whats the best way.  ???
normally i have no problems but landed on an exposed beach and it was a nightmare  :-[

30 to 40 knts wind!  A friend helping otherwise you get twisted.  Hold the nose directly into the wind and keep it there.

Another option is to drag the board.  Grab it by the tail.

Works ok into a gusty headwind on grass or sand.

We sometimes double up on two boards.. One takes both noses (under each arm) and one takes both tails.

thanks for the help, my way was a mixture of wrestling and spinning ;D

I think the hardest part is getting it up on the roof in the wind... YIKES....

In high winds when I'm solo, I'll carry it on my head nose first. The fin catches the wind an will make the board point in direction of wind but once there, it doesn't buffet around as much as if its on your shoulder or carrying under arm. Just make sure you're grip on the rails is flexible, a little down pull on the nose keeps it lower than tail. When a crazy gust hits it's better to have nose pushed to ground than get lifted up and thrown over your head backwards. Do this enough times with a big board and you'll have a nice callus where that board rubbed a bald spot, replacing your hair on top of head...
