Missed another great one today. I totally could have blown off the 1:00 appointment and I started feeling better by noon. I drowned my sorrows by buying a GoFoil two-pack (Iwa and Maliko 200) and signing up for kite lessons. Got the foil mounted on my L41 mini Simms with no drama, ready to rock tomorrow.

You missed out on another one today Bill. The shuttle wasn't gonna run today so my Wife offered to shuttle me. Us weekend warriors have to get it all in two days. The wind was blowing strong but not as gusty as earlier this week. I was surprised that I didn't see another car at maliko belonging to a paddler. Thought maybe there was another missile scare that I missed. Most likely everyone was watching football. After I put in and headed out I did see a truck with some oc-1s on it. I kept on as I figured they would paddle by me at some point along the way. I guess I was in the zone as I had one of my best times. Too bad no one but the whales saw it. :o

Foiling (sort of) in the morning and kite lesson in the afternoon.

^ cool!

I'm jealous about the foiling but epic pow conditions has got my adrenaline needs under control.

I had a good Maliko run yesterday afternoon after my kite lessons. Great conditions except we came into Kanaha at low tide and I ran out of water going over the reef. Smacked the nose into rock while I was going flat out on a wave and bent my rudder enough to make the board want to go in circles. I had to do a little in-the-water repair job. The nose ding is probably a leaker so I have my morning reserved for repairing the skin, always a little touchy on hollow boards. I have to be careful not to compromise the sandwich. Two long, deep scrapes and one straight-in punch. Not terrible, just bitchy.

Now I remember why I don't like coming in at Kanaha. I should perfect my entrance and just go to the end of the reef and turn left like we do for the Olukai, though that's always a pain in the ass, paddling sideways across big wind swells. But it beats doing damage.

Thump, scape, bang. Time for a little glassing.
