Anybody see this yet? Appears to be Laird at Chicama expertly handling a high performance foil sup.

I want to try a foil soon. There's a Naish Raptor w/a Naish foil mounted on it in one of the surf shops where I live. $2000
Everyday I thank The Laird.

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

I wonder if they sped up the footage on purpose or what?

Reminds me of a bad episode of Fractured Flickers.

Dare I say it. "They sped it up, because it's kinda boring to watch." Maybe it's just me, but without some hard bottom turn or lip smack, it's like watching long boarders who just go down the line and do very little. Fun when it's you doing it I'm sure, but not so fun to watch.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

couldn't agree more. i understand the concept of a foil when surfing would be dull, difficult or impossible without it, but when there are legitimate waves, the foil seems to actually detract from the sport. for me, foiling is a viable option only when conditions don't allow for anything else. otherwise, it's kind of like using a parachute to jump off a chair.

Also a bit dangerous to other surfers when used in crowded lineups by non Laird riders.

Looks like a lot of fun to me.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.

Cook-

by the looks of it- its kinda 'easy' to justify that Naish foil vs other because it also looks to be a decent shaped 120l SUP board, and has Kite options.

definetly more versatile than some of the other offerings.

The fat waves we had the other day would have been perfect for the foil!

Was it sped up or we all need another cup of coffee?

That did look like fun but where can find lefts that long? That was a 400-500 yard left?

Thanks for sharing.

Makes sense to me that the editor did something to spice up the footage, I would still like to see it real time.  Video I have seen of Chicama it often looks veeeeeeeerrrrryyy long and also very fat/flat, especially when it's howling offshore.  That's the best most fun looking foil surfing I have seen at that spot.

Foil surfing reminds of Downwinding in that video often doesn't capture how fun it is, or in the case of foiling how intense it is and the speeeeeeeed.  Maybe cutting in some onboard footage and/or a speedometer overlay?
Aloha, I welcome and appreciate all responses of positivity and good feeling.
