Crazy GoPro shots...
« on: May 25, 2017, 07:51:42 AM »
I have used my GoPro extensively on my SUP to get pictures of my dog, kids, dolphins, whales...etc. from my SUP.  That said, I never brought my GoPro in the waves since picking up SUP Surfing 3 years ago--must have been having too much fun!

Took my GoPro out this past week and amongst the surf shots captured this one--Splash!

Any other cool shots that people have advertently/inadvertently captured?

You ain't seen nothin' yet! Time to start catchin' up, 805! I can't believe it took you this long to get that cam in the surf. What GoPro are you using? Guessing the Hero3 since you're three yrs into it now. They are def amazing cameras that yield amazing results. I have WAY more shots and footage than any would would ever need!  I favor paddle mount best, but nose mount yields good results too. Mounting the Hero4 (or 3) on paddle can be cumbersome w/alot of swing weight. I just ordered a Session (finally) for the paddle.
These are some of my favorite "captures".

One could go into a mall in Kansas and ask a teenager "What is a surfer looking for?, and the answer will always be, "The perfect wave"

Buddy got a great shot of me a couple of weeks ago that I am showing off every chance I get. They way the fisheye is on these cameras work its hard to appreciate the distance. By the time I completed this bottom turn I was close enough to smack him with my paddle.

Shark bite central.
It's not overhead to me!
8'8" L-41 ST and a whole pile of boards I rarely use.

Wow!  All great shots--awesome!  Look forward to seeing what else this brings.

Surfercook: Yes--I guess I have a lot of catching up to do especially when I hit the wave with friends.  You know your cameras--mine is a Hero 3+ with a paddle (handlebar) mount and a few board mounts (FCS and stick on).  Good idea on the Session for the paddle as the hero does add swing weight.  On a side note, I hear that GoPro has a trade-in going on which gives $50-100 towards a new Session or Hero 5 black... Would consider it if I had an older model as my 3+ has served its purpose well!

Beasho, the spider monkey shot is so cool.  Do you surf Mavericks on big winter days?  Respect!
