Personally I find skate style is ubiquitous thus timelessly acceptably cool, functional and cheap.

A kiter in the water is very hard to see so a bright color helmut is extremely helpful for situations where you may need help. Or just not to get run over. White works too.

Wakeboard companies all have water helmuts.
I like Liquid Force coz I know the founder but also like their boards and the name is cool.

A visor is a very useful thing (opposite to the classic watersports Gath-style helmut - not a good look). You’ll soon find out that looking at your kite can be tricky with the sun. BTW the visor will help protect your face in a frontal impact. I use my water helmut for urban biking in the rain where the little visor is useful to keep rain out of the eyes.

So I have one of these (from Massachusetts)

Free,

How about you just learn to Windsurf (Phil can help you there) in 2 hours you'll be operational and with practice the SKY is the limit.

Kiting is dangerous not just beginner but EVERYONE who kites (or has) has KITEMARES They hurt

Just my 2 cents

JimK, I own a Fanatic Allwave 8'10, it appears to have a hole for a mast/rig for windsurfing? Can you point me to where I can find out more about a beginners set up for this board?

Jim,
I appreciate the thought. It has crossed my mind. And I know the danger is real and it's a matter of when.

Windsurfing just doesn't look all that fun unless its blowing hard! I'm hoping that kiting proves to be super fun and something I can do consistently in the local winds.

That said, I do wish I had given windsup a go when I had the 12'6 starby with dagger and 9'2 all wave.

Paddle Serf:  Was that "a hole" or "a-hole"??

I'd be happy to spread the windsup stoke w/ you and free sometime.
My 10'4" iSUP makes a great windsup aircraft carrier rig.
With just a little practice, you guys could learn to sail just as poorly as I do!!

I've got kite lessons booked last week of June if conditions are fair. Inland Sea.

If I die during intro lessons maybe I will give the windsup another look  ;)

Free place to stay on Bonaire?  NOT learning a windsport would be a sin.
