Free what are going to ride out of that quiver?  Swellinfo  and sailflow are both saying SW winds 15- 20 when things start. It should be an interesting few hours.  The ferry ride over will be very enlightening as far as  conditions in the middle. Stoked to see you guys there. Our group will be taking the noontime Island Queen from Falmouth.  They're calling for beautiful and in the mid 70's as far as weather. Thats a great  forecast. I just hope the water is warm because we're definitely going to be in it several times.

I'll be jammin on the 14' Bark Dominator.

With that wind prediction Po8... Hope your right sides are limber men!

FYI a lead boat and a trail boat that will carry bags etc back to mainland has been confirmed on the Facebook.  ;D

I was helping with my daughter's softball tournament a week before CCBC, selfishly thinking about my final training paddle, telling her I might miss her game Sunday. They seeded high and were scheduled to play later on Sunday. Her mother was supposed to attend, but she couldn't and my daughter told me how much better she plays when I'm there anyways. I woke up on Sunday very early to lay down 16 miles and get to her game on time to help her practice some outfield flies as this wasn't her customary position(all the girls were a year older than her) Later on in the game, a fly ball was hit her way... After telling her numerous times to be aggressive.. she charged that ball and made a beautiful basket catch that drew a huge applause at a critical time. You can't get those moments back.

Good luck to any Zoners making the crossing.    It was blowing friggin' GALE force earlier in the day.   Hopefully it'll die down to at least JUDY force for the race.   Have fun!   Looking fwd to post-race report..

Congrats to the folks that made it and Piece of 8 for his bomber 2nd place. You guys took the best line that's for sure. Those were the toughest conditions I've ever seen for a race.....start out with a 15-20 mph head wind into rising chop.....by the time we hit the real gnarly stuff it was side on and 4-6 foot with some breaking waves, insane conditions. It would have been a world class downwinder if we had been headed in the right direction. A bunch of folks (smartly) bailed before we left, it was not the place to be if you weren't sure of yourself.
Your's truly was very pissed to cramp up just 2 miles into it. I need to figure out WTF is going on...been having a lot of cramps lately...sometimes just waking up in the middle of the night...ate bananas, was well hydrated, didn't matter, couldn't even get onto my knees to get back up never mind stand, 5 hours later it still wants to knot up on me.... >:(

Wow, you guys are NUTZ!..   I was in Harwich at noon and it was blowing 20+ and intensifying, 2-3 breaking windswell @ 3seconds...  Good on ya' for even trying, definitely wild and scary stuff.   Glad nobody got hurt or swept away.  Piece of 8 in the money??   Somebody's found the fountain of youth!  ;D

Ya Primal Po8 killed it out there today for sure. I came in 4th at least 5 minutes behind.  Totally gnarly conditions.  Biggest wave measured at 7.5 feet according to race director. Washing machine with constant cross wind over 20 mph!!!

Cool spectator race.  My dad took the ferry over. Saw the start. Took the ferry back and saw us midway (with binocs).  Then caught my finish on the jetty entering the harbor.

Stoney, great to see u and Sue. You will get it back!!!

Luckily, my back is screwed, so I didn't have to show up ;D

I walked over to Kim Riley( womens first place) before the race when an organizer tried to convince us not to do this. As soon I looked in her eyes, I knew there was no way this thing WASN'T going down.
Upwind conditions at the start were led by Johnny O from team Ireland in the ISA championship. I knew that my strategy had to be different from his if I was going to have any chance of success. Upwind is not what my board is about. As soon as I saw my friend Damian(1st in the 12 '6) break right for Falmouth , I knew it was gametime. The support boat told me  that I needed to head further upwind and I ignored his advice I myself was hoping for big and gnarly was rewarded. There was one definitely overhead roller that came my way. There was no getting back on my board downwind as the wind would lift the rail and I got smacked in the face once. I never doubted from the start that I wouldn't make it, I just  tried to enjoy the ride.

I remember being on a 5-6 foot roller and surfing down the face about 2miles out from the harbor thinking to myself: This is why DavidJohn does those fist pumps in his downwind vids.

Stoney, I hope you can resolve those cramping issues as I know how much you enjoy this events!

Kim is amazing. She doesn't look like an athlete and isn't a kid, but she's one of the toughest paddlers I know. Competitive racer, commonly close to or on the podium. She does the SUPathon solo and got hammered in the insane beach break conditions we had this year....finished to everyone cheering the effort. Then yesterday just sealed the deal. She just doesn't give up, hard core all the way. One of the nicest folks you'll ever meet to boot.

The cramping thing sucks, I've never had problems like this until the last year or so....and its been common this spring and summer. Lots of potential causes evidently from what I'm reading. Magnesium, Potassium, and calcium deficiencies, too much caffeine, and others (they don't really know the cause truthfully)  Looks like I need to start experimenting a bit. I'm hoping my heavy caffeine addiction isn't the problem.... >:(

Ya, Kim is ALWAYS in warrior mode come race time. She kicks ass!

Something I have learned from SUP racing is to never judge your competition at the starting line, male or female!
